Massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russia, oil terminal, data center, and a bridge were hit among others – Heavy Russian losses

Ukraine carried out a large-scale attack against Russia during the night, and according to reports, an oil terminal and a data center in Saint Petersburg were hit. There are also reports that a bridge and a power station were struck, which later led to extensive power outages.

According to Russian state media, the data center belongs to the Russian social media company VKontakte, and they also report that 127 Ukrainian drones were shot down in the region, that falling debris damaged four cars in a parking lot, and that fires have been reported.

Eyewitness footage taken by residents of Saint Petersburg shows what appear to be Ukrainian drones flying through the air and the city’s air defense system in action. Large explosions can be seen lighting up the night sky in the city with 5.6 million inhabitants, 856 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border.

Many videos seem to show Saint Petersburg’s oil terminal engulfed in flames. The facility, located in the city’s port, is one of Russia’s largest fuel storage and export facilities. It receives and transports petroleum products via river, rail, and road transport, and has a reported throughput of 12.5 million tons per year. The Ukrainian drone manufacturer Fire Point says that an FP-1 attack drone was used to hit the oil terminal.

  1. Now the halt is apparently just a “pause to evaluate.” I guess they have received such harsh criticism that they are now trying to backtrack.

“The halt of the US’s new sanctions against Russia will apply for up to 60 days, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He states that the purpose is to evaluate the economic consequences.

    – The president wants to analyze how sanctions and tariffs would affect both the global economy and the US, Rubio says according to Reuters.

The decision to pause the sanctions has been criticized by Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky, who warns that it could strengthen Vladimir Putin and prolong the war.”

    1. “Donald Trump’s decision to pause sanctions against Russia is causing anger even among his own allies, reports American media.

Among them is Darline Graham, who with Trump’s support took over her brother Lindsey Graham’s seat in the Senate after his death. It was Lindsey Graham who spearheaded the sanctions package in Congress.

      – I would choose to continue putting pressure on Russia to end the war and lower fuel prices, because I trust neither Putin nor Russia, she says according to CNN.

Several other Republicans are also critical. Among them is Congressman Don Bacon, who says that Trump’s decision prolongs the war in Ukraine. Listening to the Democrats, the tones are even harsher.

      – Trump’s pact with the devil is getting dirtier and dirtier, says top Democrat Chuck Schumer according to AP.”

    1. ** ❗️A collapse occurred at 🇷🇺St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport due to the threat of a UAV attack: passengers and staff were evacuated to shelters and given mats for waiting. The airport administration asks those who have not yet arrived not to come for now because of mass flight delays and schedule adjustments. **

  2. An oil terminal, a data center, and a road bridge were hit in a massive Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Saint Petersburg last night, reports Kyiv Independent citing Russian state media. Kyiv Independent has not been able to confirm the extent of the damage, but in video clips on social media, the oil terminal can be seen engulfed in flames.

According to the Russian governor Aleksandr Drozdenko, 127 Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defense.

The attacks come after Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky announced this week that Kyiv will resume attacks on Russian refineries even as support from the US declines.

  3. Off-Topic, the protests in France

“In Limoges, France, 17 people have been arrested after the city hall was set on fire during the ongoing protests in the country, reports BFMTV.

Seven of those arrested are under 18 years old, and the police are investigating the fire as ‘organized destruction of property by dangerous means.’

‘Private individuals have also been attacked in connection with the gatherings at the site, in some cases with violence. We will as soon as possible map out how many have been affected,’ states the public prosecutor’s office.

The fire in the city hall is under control as of Sunday morning.

Le Monde reports that the organizers estimate that 800,000 people demonstrated on Saturday. Authorities estimate that half a million participated.”

  4. Over the magical number 2000 KWIA!

If they can reach a new plateau here, they will have achieved the goal of more KWIA than recruited. Finally

    1. The average so far in October is 1705.
If it holds, it will be almost 53,000 KWIA!

Some may have sustained minor injuries and can return to service, but if Ukraine can continue at this pace, Russia will likely be forced to mobilize.

        1. I seem to remember having seen something similar, that they add between 25-30,000 each month.

Then there seem to be different estimates of how many soldiers they have in Ukraine, ranging from 400 to 700,000.

  5. Trump’s diesel just burned up in St Petersburg 🤣🤣🤣

UA is really going all-in against Trump now – FINALLY after 4.5 years.

Now of course everything is happening at once here and Europe is already at war but it’s worth it every day of the week.

  6. 800,000 pcs, then the next trip place in a few weeks.

Since these are warring revolutionaries and not a demonstration that needs to be handled, it is probably quite a large number to manage.

  7. ** 🔥 Tonight, drones hit the Ruchy oil depot in St. Petersburg, – DroneBomber The video clearly shows open burning in the upper part of a large vertical tank. The roof structures of the tank were completely destroyed, from where a powerful flame bursts and a thick column of black smoke rises.

The fire covered a significant area of the tank, creating a critical thermal impact on neighboring tanks and technological bridges of the oil depot. **

    1. “Although calm has returned to the streets of Paris, the destruction after last night’s violence is striking and extensive, writes Le Parisien. Along certain streets, not a single shop has been spared from the violence. Banks, clothing stores, beauty salons, and pharmacies have been subjected to vandalism and looting. The newspaper’s reporter notes how young people rummage for valuable items in the debris.

      – People disgust me, go to hell! exclaims a person who has just bought coffee for the sanitation workers on Boulevard Voltaire.

Paris Deputy Mayor Lamia El Aaraje says that many shop owners have seen their entire businesses, and thus their livelihoods, destroyed during the night. Many employers will be forced to implement a temporary work stoppage starting Monday.

      – The Yellow Vests appear like choirboys in comparison to this, says a waiter working at a brasserie on Place de la République.”

    1. As I wrote yesterday, I believe that a strategy from the French government could be to tactically be somewhat cautious and let the professional troublemakers on both the left and right sides, as well as the purely criminal elements, run rampant. This leads partly to both political extremes attracting less sympathy and the traditional centrist path within French politics becoming more appealing as a stable alternative. When the government feels that the rampage, i.e., the end, has justified the means, it will strike very hard because it knows that the public now demands this response and there is no need to take further considerations or risk criticism for the actions of the law enforcement.

  8. Since Donald Trump went out and claimed that Moscow and Kyiv agreed to an energy ceasefire a week ago, Russia has attacked Ukraine’s energy sector 76 times. This is what Volodymyr Zelenskyy writes on X. He further writes that during the same period, Russia attacked with nearly 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles. Zelenskyy also takes a jab at Trump, who during the same period has canceled a major sanctions package against Russia and bought 300,000 tons of diesel from the country while simultaneously claiming that it is Ukraine that does not want peace. “It is because of Russia’s stance that the war continues […] It is Russia that must be pressured for peace to have a chance.”

  9. Well MXT the most important thing is that I get it right 👍

Now only the Baltics need to be destroyed and then I’m satisfied and can celebrate that I’ve hit the entire list.

I think it’s a bit weak in France so far, not quite up to what I promised so we have to hope it picks up more.

      1. The riots may continue to Lorient. That’s where the new Swedish frigates are being built. That way we can avoid them. The English couldn’t manage to bomb the shipyard or the Germans’ submarine base in Lorient into ruins. But they didn’t have a Greta on their team.
No offense to France. My favorite cities are Dieppe, Caen, and Brest. Dense fog and drizzle were common there. But pleasant.

    1. He seems to have counted his chickens before they hatched. Shouted “FINALLY” in the office and rushed out, no one has heard from him since.

  10. There are no king protests in the USA now.

I am of the opinion that Putin controls Trump to also create maximum chaos in the USA.

That is what Putin wants now – chaos in the West.

It will spread throughout Europe and become as violent as our governments allow, there is no upper limit.

    1. I also believe that it can become turbulent and spread, but it will not come close to what Putin hopes for. The majority of the populations are doing well, and trust in the institutions of society is fairly strong. Likewise, it reaches a point where the authorities, with the citizens’ consent, can crack down hard on the insurgents.

    It’s a bit – I don’t care that it’s fake, this post is still damn awful 😉

As I wrote in a post 2-3 days ago. The French, the Belgians, the Italians, and others need to stop this ASAP. Otherwise, live ammunition will be needed…

Use rubber bullets and gas, lock everyone up and deport all who have other citizenships for life.

But above all, everyone who can be identified for vandalism should either have to pay back or do community service until they have paid for the damages.

    1. 🙌

Parisians have taken to the streets to clear away debris after Saturday’s protest chaos, writes Le Figaro. Residents in vandalized areas are reported to have done everything they could to stop vandals who smashed and looted shops.
Many react with shock at how things look the day after. 76-year-old Suzie tells the newspaper that she has never seen anything like it.
      – Who is going to pay for all this?
Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire praises all the people who went out on Sunday to clean up broken glass.

      https://omni.se/a/zlwAzO

    2. And catch every disguised protestant (not in the sense of Lutheran), identify and fine them. If they are disguised, they automatically do not have clean hands.

  12. Yes, that’s what I mean, fedtmule, the limit doesn’t exist but governments will cut back and that’s when this ends.

So it is not possible to be low-effective because the movement is revolutionary.

Lock up and throw away the key.

  13. We agree, Johan. Let them, the revolutionaries and the useful idiots, make a proper fool of themselves. That usually happens quite quickly, as it is now in France.
When public sympathy is close to zero, the extra tough gloves come on and you can roll everything back far beyond the starting point to the sound of applause and cheers.

  14. ** Latvia’s Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs is asking the EU to stop issuing tourist visas to Russian citizens altogether, citing security threats. The Financial Times carried the call. Riga is also pushing for EUR 7 billion to cover defense spending and economic losses from bordering Russia and Belarus. Latvian officials call this “geographic punishment.” The punishment is delivered by the neighbor, not by Brussels. Latvia pays for Moscow’s hostility with its budget, while Russians still expect to shop and holiday in the Schengen zone. **

  15. Zelenskyy’s public criticism of Donald Trump poses risks for Ukraine, several writers write in an analysis for Reuters. They point out that the past week has been tough on the American-Ukrainian relationship, with harsh statements from Trump against Zelenskyy and the US’s eased sanctions on Russia. If the rift grows larger, Trump may withdraw military support, the writers argue. Regarding Zelenskyy’s response to Trump, Brett Bruen at the consulting firm Global Situation Room says that Zelenskyy may have anticipated a power shift in the House of Representatives and the Senate. That would make it harder for Trump to ease sanctions and reduce support for Ukraine. DN’s Ingmar Nevéus writes that Trump has become “so openly pro-Putin that it can no longer be ignored.” Zelenskyy has previously had to be balanced, but now he is openly critical of Trump, writes Nevéus. “Zelenskyy seems to be releasing a rage he has held inside for a long time.”

    https://omni.se/a/X9Ojvx

    1. The analysts are TOTAL IDIOTS.

Trump is now trying to buy time for Putin, that is why he had to expose himself, or else Putin’s plan is to create chaos in the USA. You can flip a coin.

The financial crisis is just around the corner.

The hybrid war is unfolding in Europe.

IF Zelensky had NOT gone hard against Trump, Trump would have continued to threaten Zelensky to stop with data centers, gas, and oil.

Unfortunately, I do not believe these analysts are pro-Russian but that they are as lost as newborns on the floor and, sadly, they represent the rest of Europe.

Right now, the best we have is Ukraine and Zelensky; if they stop their miracles this autumn, there will be bitter consequences for decades – be sure of that.

  16. Macron delivers a speech to the nation: “How can you do this?”
After the massive riots in France, the country’s president Emmanuel Macron delivers a speech to the nation. In the speech, he says he feels anger and shame.
    – Public buildings, shops, and town halls were attacked and destroyed in some cases. Several hundred police officers were injured. When we saw the images, we all thought: What was going through their heads? How can the French do this to France?, he says.
The riots have continued on Sunday and several have been injured.
    – We have urged prosecutors to act as forcefully as possible. The legal follow-up must be exemplary, says Macron.
Furthermore, he believes that the irritation over the high gasoline prices can be attributed to the war in the Middle East and the closed Strait of Hormuz.
    – We had nothing to do with that.

    1. It’s quite simple – these protesters back down for strength, and if they don’t see strength, they continue.

If you are a revolutionary, that’s basically the whole point of tearing down the country so that something is born from the ashes.

  17. Krasnov is trying to pressure Ukraine to surrender, says Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Bloomberg.
Zelenskyy says he does not want to believe that the US wants to reach a quick end to the war at Ukraine’s expense.
    – But that’s how it looks.
He further says that Krasnov seems to have a good relationship with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, and that Ukraine has offered to stop attacking Russian diesel facilities in exchange for more Patriot missiles from the US. However, the White House is said to have declined.

  18. Something you will soon see are pro-Russian accounts posting police violence and the media jumping on it because it fits into the whole “the police are fascists” narrative.

Then other groups of pro-Russian accounts post everything from the protests with their anti-immigration angle.

I actually think Putin has been really smart here, staking out both the left and right wings.

Drive voters toward any extreme with state-supported trafficking/migration and then revolutionary riots.

    Cash in.

    1. “Zelensky is under pressure, worse situation than two years ago,” 😄😆😂 I wouldn’t believe that. Rather the opposite, and anyone with eyes can see that. When you lie, it’s good if the lie can’t be seen through immediately/easily.
