Greetings! I am Kateryna Suprun. Today, March 8, Militarny reports on the Swedish weapons that Ukraine is receiving. It has become known that Ukrainian military personnel are already using the Swedish RBS-70 MANPADS. This is a short-range system. The system's missile is laser-guided. This allows targets to be destroyed in conditions of opposition from thermal flares or electronic warfare tools. This MANPADS is in the arsenals of the Baltic states, Czechia, Norway, Finland, and, of course, Sweden itself.

This is far from the first Swedish weapon received by the Ukrainian military. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Great Britain transferred thousands of Swedish Enlaw ATGMs. Fire! Swedish grenade launchers "Carl Gustaf" and AT4 are also well-known to the Ukrainian military. Next came the RBS-17 anti-ship complexes, which are essentially an anti-ship version of the "Hellfire" anti-tank missile.

Ukrainian military personnel use this weaponry, including for striking ground targets. The turning point in the supply of weaponry to Ukraine from Sweden began last autumn, when a new government was elected in the country. On October 25, the Swedish Armed Forces and the military property administration submitted a report to the government on how Sweden could militarily support Ukraine in the short and long term. Then the country's new government promised to develop a long-term support program for Ukraine.

The statement mentioned that the country would provide Ukraine with more modern weapon samples, though it was not specified which ones. Later in November, information appeared that it specifically referred to the RBS-70 MANPADS and artillery. On January 19 of this year, the Swedish government announced a package of the most anticipated aid for Ukraine – "Archer" self-propelled howitzers and "CV90" IFVs.

The Swedish howitzer is considered the most modern and advanced in the world. Its maximum rate of fire is up to 9 shots per minute. The loading system allows 6 shells to be fired in 30 seconds along varied trajectories. The firing range is 30 kilometers with a standard shell, 40 with a rocket-assisted shell, and up to 60 kilometers with an "Excalibur" shell.

Of course, a review of the "Archer" will appear on our military podcast. But it is unknown when these systems will be delivered to Ukraine, although the Prime Minister of Sweden promised to implement these deliveries as quickly as possible. Regarding the "CV90" IFVs, it's much simpler – we are talking about 51 vehicles. But it is unclear exactly which "CV90" models these will be. "CV90" is an entire family of vehicles developed by BAE Systems and Bofors. The equipment has been supplied to the Swedish army since 1993 and is in the arsenals of the Scandinavian countries, Estonia, and the Netherlands.

Czechia and Slovakia are also in the process of contracting these vehicles. The "CV90" infantry fighting vehicle is armed with a 40mm L70 Bofors gun. The vehicle's protection allows it to withstand hits from 30mm shells. The Swedish Armed Forces have more than 500 such IFVs. Ukraine is also expecting Swedish tanks. The country's government promised 10 "Stridsvagn 122" along with other European countries. "Stridsvagn 122" is the Swedish version of the "Leopard 2" tank.

The Swedish tank has an improved armor package that increases protection against shaped-charge munitions. The fire control system was modernized for the option of tracking several targets at once. Guidance tools include a new laser rangefinder and a thermal imaging camera. The turret rotation drive changed, and the hydraulic system was replaced by an electric one. This increased the speed and accuracy of targeting in the horizontal plane.

Sweden also takes an active part in training Ukrainian military personnel and in international initiatives to strengthen Ukraine's air defense system. This refers to the "HAWK" SAM systems and missiles for the "IRIS-T". There is also information that the Swedish government is considering Ukraine's request to receive "Gripen" fighter jets.

But it should be noted that the "Gripen" takes a bit longer to be delivered than the expected F-16s that Ukraine can receive. Overall, since February of last year, Sweden has transferred weaponry worth 900 million euros to Ukraine. It is also worth noting that two days before the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Swedish Security Service reported that Russia poses the greatest threat to the country, and its actions are becoming increasingly aggressive.

So, while Sweden moves into NATO, we await Swedish self-propelled guns, tanks, and IFVs on the battlefield in Ukraine. A sort of revenge for Poltava, but no longer near Poltava. Subscribe to the channel, give likes. See you in the next episodes.
