One killed and two injured in Russia’s nightly attacks on Ukraine

Russia killed one and injured at least two in their latest attacks. Odesa was hit by extensive drone attacks where at least 21 apartments were damaged. The city’s infrastructure was also damaged, including a gas pipeline. Kyiv was also subjected to, among other things, robot attacks that led to power outages. Kyiv is already the hardest hit in terms of electricity supply, with residents only having access to power for 1.5 – 2 hours a day.

At the same time, the cold weather continues, with temperatures expected to drop to -17 to -19 degrees in the coming days. However, from Thursday onwards, the situation looks better as forecasts indicate that the temperature will rise towards zero and there may even be occasional above-zero temperatures. Of course, electricity is needed for much more than just heating, so it is still important that the electricity supply in Ukraine can be stabilized.

  1. “A night attack on Odesa killed a 35 year old man and injured two others, including a 19 year old woman, according to the regional administration. In Prymorskyi district, at least 21 apartments were damaged and two cars burned. In Kharkiv region, a woman and a 10 year old child were killed.”

    1. In a way, one might think that he should be given the chance to be president in peacetime and rebuilding time, which is only positive compared to these past almost four years of frustration and struggle for his country.
But I wish him the opportunity to retire to a more peaceful life, to be able to enjoy family life in a normal everyday life before the children move out.
You can see how he has aged in these four years, even though he still seems to find time for training at the expense of sleep.
As I sit here in my apartment with the snow outside the windows but plus 22 indoors, I am ashamed of how well off we are compared to those living in Ukraine right now. I wish I could contribute financially more than I do, and I would wish that our larger companies like Ica, H&M, and similar could donate a day’s sales to Ukraine’s heat infrastructure and other essential needs.

      1. I can agree, if he actually wants to continue I hope he gets the opportunity. He would probably have much greater possibilities to implement his visions as well. Previously, he seemed to be quite pressured and dependent on various oligarchs. He should be able to handle them in a different way now.

Yes, one feels guilty for how good one has it compared to the Ukrainians, and of course mainly compared to the fighters. Donating money, but at the same time one knows that it’s just a drop in the ocean compared to what big companies and the really wealthy could do if they only had the will. Frustrating to think about but I will continue to do what I can.

  2. Russia’s Belgorod is draining heating systems in 455 apartment buildings, 25 kindergartens, 17 schools & 9 clinics after strikes knocked out power infrastructure Families with children and pensioners are being evacuated to other regions.

  3. OT, now it’s time for commercials!

    The Spear Shaft Coin

For those who may have missed it, it is now possible to order the coin via Spjutskaftet

I have placed an order for 50 coins from Klamra and on Thursday I plan to place a supplementary order with additional coins, so they have a chance to be included in the first delivery.

NOTE! Even those who have previously submitted an expression of interest must place a real order in order to receive a coin.

For those who are not interested in the coin but would rather have products to show their support to inspire others, there are also some other alternatives in different price ranges.
Unfortunately, they are not manufactured in Ukraine. There too, a portion of the sales will go to Power Up Ukraine.

Hold the spear shaft and never give up!

      1. Good question!

Maybe they will get away with:
“But we have already placed orders for three million barrels, we can’t break the contract!”

  4. Off-Topic, Risks of AI

Just one example of how AI is used and it will only get worse as it becomes increasingly difficult to determine what is AI.

“TikTok has shut down four accounts pretending to be Swedish girls with right-wing extremist views, after P4 Uppland revealed that they are AI-generated.

In total, the accounts had 32,000 followers and several million views on their clips. According to Christer Mattson, director of the Segerstedt Institute, the clips can give young people a distorted view of reality.

    – You isolate yourself in a bubble with people who think the same way and see the world the same way, and here you also share experiences that are manipulated, that have nothing to do with reality.

P4 Uppland has been in contact with a person who claims to be behind all four accounts, as well as several others. They claim to have created the accounts for ideological reasons.”

    1. Fake AI-generated advertising video about a fake product with a fake Stellan supposedly coming from Open AI. It only lacked Open AI also being fake.

“A video claiming to be a leaked Super Bowl ad for Open AI is fake, reports The Verge.

The clip, which has been circulating on Reddit and X, showed actor Alexander Skarsgård with what was presented as Open AI’s first hardware product, a blank, round device with headphones.

According to Open AI, the ad is completely fabricated, as well as the claims of a leak.

The ad gained traction partly because it aligned with previous speculation that Open AI may be gearing up to launch its own hardware, writes Techbuzz.”

  5. 🤔🧐
“Italy’s railways were hit by what authorities call “serious sabotage” as the Winter Olympics opened. Three attacks struck northern lines: fires between Bologna and Venice, arson at a switch near Pesaro, and cut cables with an explosive device near Bologna.”

  6. “🤬 At the Konotop station, the enemy used a drone to hit a locomotive that was supposed to join a passenger train. The track was damaged in the Sumy region. The drone also hit a service car in which railway workers were heading to repair a section of the track: one worker was injured.”

  7. Ot, China.

It seems like the purges among the military continue. Xi is trying to ensure that he has absolute control ahead of Xi’s dictator project to reunite Taiwan with the motherland.

RIGHT NOW: “Brakes off” – giant alarm about China’s dictator

This is bad for Taiwan, as it gives Xi the power to start the war basically whenever he wants. Dictators usually start wars if there are problems domestically, so if the USA manages to cause a financial crisis and it affects China, Taiwan is at risk.

At the same time, the purges are good for Taiwan in the sense that the more control Xi takes over the military, the worse it becomes at waging war, as the possibility for the military to take their own initiatives is limited.

    1. The answer seems to be that we don’t know yet?

But likely that it’s in the wrong direction and then it’s not just Taiwan but a larger conflict.

  8. A daily spot price of 205 öre tomorrow in SE3 😶

For you who always want to show graphs that it’s never like I write MXT, do you have any good graph to reassure us here?

Looks like sub-zero temperatures where I live for over a week.
