    Do we believe in a ceasefire, should the lottery numbers be 0 tomorrow? It would be fun to have a vote on the matter. My vote is no, there will be no ceasefire.

    We will see what happens on Red Square in a few minutes. Zelensky has generously promised in a decree to keep the parade protected within certain coordinates corresponding to Red Square from 09:00 local time. A genuine trolling from Zelensky.

    The question is whether there will be anything at all. The Russians have apparently revoked the accreditations for foreign journalists.

        That’s really the case.
        Also interesting is what the other blog writes about Zelensky having ordered a ceasefire only within certain coordinates, and that it was done before Trump went out and said that he had “ordered” the ceasefire… One can wonder what is true.
        But it’s good if a prisoner exchange takes place so that more Ukrainians can come home, and that Ukraine secures its part of the whole before they move forward again.

    Off-Topic, corruption in Sweden (and sorry a bit of domestic politics)

    To counteract nepotism and cronyism, public procurements are made so complicated that it becomes impossible for smaller companies to participate. It has nothing at all to do with the companies’ competence and delivery capability but is about those who purchase the services being able to justify their decision. “Look, they have a nice 98-page quality plan,” etc.

    Small companies don’t stand a chance because it requires having an employee who is an expert in public procurement; otherwise, it can take a week or two to put together the necessary documentation (the requirements also differ each time, so it is not enough to have participated in one procurement).

    It’s not only complicated for those submitting bids; it also takes a lot of unnecessary time from those who are procuring. Money that could have gone to better things.

    Of course, I do not mean that these rules should be completely dropped; corruption must and should be fought against, and without rules, nepotism will become more the rule than the exception.

    BUT it makes me damn tired when I see things like this.

          It was not intended to excuse Uffe in any way, although I can see that one can interpret it that way. M, C, and S are all very good at getting public funds into the pockets of related stakeholders. Even KD strongly protects the subsidy-industrial complex.

          Then about the industrial investments… when there is obviously zero possibility of normal profitability, there are presumably other motives behind it. Most often, these motives involve moving other people’s money into their own pockets. In this case, our pension money.

      Agree, slightly against Kristersson. They should always take the safe option over the uncertain and assume that it will come out.

       

      A good example is Carl-Oskar Bohlin who sold all his shares when he became a minister with the reasoning that he did not want any suspicions of conflict of interest or corruption to arise. That is why I am in favor of ministers etc. having a good salary so that they can refrain from shareholdings and other things that could raise suspicions.
