  1. Of course Russia is involved.

“The Financial Supervisory Authority is taking action against suspected stock frauds where Swedish small investors have lost hundreds of millions of kronor. The authority is now requesting information from banks to map the extent, which in one case is estimated at half a billion kronor.

The fraudsters have used well-known names like the governor of the central bank, Erik Thedéen, in fake ads and lured investors into ‘pump and dump’ schemes with unknown Chinese stocks on Nasdaq.

The frauds are believed to have international connections to, among others, Iran and Russia – and according to FI, the possibilities for the affected, mainly people born in the 1960s and 1970s, to get their money back are very slim.”

  2. No one has been tougher on Russia than Trump???

He is even worse than Russian propaganda with his constant lies. He must really think that everyone is an idiot who believes everything he says, unfortunately it is true for some.

“❗️I will talk to Putin in the coming days, – Trump.

▪️Nobody has been tougher on Russia than I have. But I am not happy with what is happening.
▪️It is terrible. I will find out everything tomorrow morning, – Trump on the murder of Ukrainian Iryna Zarutska in the US.
▪️Trump said that some European leaders will visit the US early this week to discuss a peace agreement on Ukraine”

    1. Could it be that it is now finally happening?
That Trump is actually doing something to stop Putin?

“Donald Trump has invited a number of European leaders to the White House to discuss the developments in Ukraine. It is unclear which government leaders are involved but meetings will be held on both Monday and Tuesday, writes BBC.

The announcement comes after Russia’s massive air strikes against Ukraine overnight on Sunday. Several people were killed and the government building in Kyiv began to burn when it was hit by a downed drone.

The attack prompted Trump to once again threaten Russia with sanctions. Overnight, the American president announced that he plans to have a conversation with Vladimir Putin soon.

      – I am not happy. I am not happy about this situation, Trump told reporters last night.”
      https://omni.se/missnojd-trump-bjuder-in-europeiska-ledare-till-usa/a/63L3lW

      1. Putin will once again convince Trump that it is Ukraine and Europe who are foolish, and promises new talks in a few weeks only if Ukraine stops bombing oil and gas infrastructure.

Stubb is not invited to the talks this time, so I think he has probably invited someone with views that more align with his own delusions.

  3. Choose to quote Kenneth Gregg:
“Since the ryzzen in the night’s attack targeted a government building, they have automatically escalated the air attacks. Now there should be no obstacles for us to send a Flamingo to a ryzk government building.”

I would, however, write “into a ryzk government building or several” and the bridge and Putin’s “small” bunker…

      1. Well thought out! I have checked and it is still unclear whether the Ukrainian government building in Kyiv was hit directly or if the fire was caused by falling debris from downed drones or missiles. Neither AP nor Reuters have confirmed this, both speculate that it could be one or the other! Will get back to you when we know more!
Well thought out as usual Mats!!!!!

        1. Yes, if it’s wreckage, it might be unwise to attack the Kremlin; I would guess that Putin wouldn’t hesitate to try to launch one or more cruise missiles at the Ukrainian headquarters.

In fact, it seems that so far they have refrained from attempting that, or maybe they have done so but Ukraine has managed to shoot them down before they reached their target.

          1. Set my AI to monitor! It reports every other hour! Here’s the latest update that just came in:
Status (13:43 CEST, Sept 8, 2025): No definitive official confirmation of a direct hit. Ukrainian authorities and public broadcaster reports indicate the fire was likely caused by falling debris; Russia’s MoD denies striking non‑military targets in central Kyiv.

            1. Europe’s ambassador to Ukraine & defense analyst:
Stated that the building was hit by an Iskander ballistic missile that did not detonate. This is a technical explanation indicating a direct hit that did not explode.
And with Iskander, this is an attack where we can respond with the same means!

              1. Evidence leans toward a direct hit by an Iskander missile (non-detonating), not just falling debris.

Reasoning: Official confirmation from Ukrainian leadership, visual evidence of impact, and EU ambassador’s specific missile insight all point toward this interpretation.

  4. Crude Oil 62.9 USD/barrel, it was up and turned at 65.6 a week ago but was down to 61.9 last Friday.
OPEC+ said a few days ago that they would increase, now apparently they will decrease. Scatterbrains!

“🛢️📈 Oil prices rose after OPEC+ agreed over the weekend to slow output increases from October on expectations of weaker global demand, — Reuters. Brent crude rose 34 cents, or 0.5%, to $65.84 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose 30 cents, or 0.5%, to $62.17 a barrel.”

  5. With the exception of Lyman and Kharkiv (S Slobozhansky), there has been a significant decrease in combat activities in the past 24 hours. Lyman was taken. And Kharkiv reached the third highest level since the beginning of May.

In the directions of Volyn and Polissya, there were no signs of the enemy forming offensive groups.

  6. Off-Topic, Sweden – bad weather

When SMHI issues a warning, it’s rarely as bad as it sounds, but this time it ended in total chaos.
Luckily, it seems no one has been seriously injured, but the repairs and restoration are likely to be enormously expensive, not to mention the cost of all the delays, etc.

“It may take several weeks before train traffic along the Norrland coast is back to normal after the downpours, reports Ekot. The Swedish Transport Administration urges passengers to contact their train companies for information on replacement services.

    – What I can say is that there will be a prolonged train stoppage, says press officer Peter Jonsson to the radio.

Trains from the south currently only run as far as Härnösand. The tracks along the Bothnia Line, where most passenger trains run, are flooded and cannot be diverted as two freight trains derailed on other tracks along the coast.”

    https://omni.se/tagen-kan-sta-stilla-i-flera-veckor-efter-ovadret/a/KMoMlM

“The Swedish Transport Administration cannot rule out further landslides or damage to roads or railways as a result of the downpours in Västernorrland, writes TT.

    – It’s an ongoing difficult situation. There are large floods in the area, says press officer Peter Jonsson.

Several roads have been undermined by large amounts of water, and railway tracks are hanging freely in the air in some places. For example, in Skorped in Örnsköldsvik municipality, where a freight train loaded with ammunition and lithium batteries derailed on Sunday.

    – It’s more or less a disaster area, says Albin Eriksson, who lives in Skorped, to TV4 News.

The Swedish Accident Investigation Authority will investigate the damages to the railway, and it may take weeks before the damages are repaired, reports P4 Västernorrland.”
    https://omni.se/tagralsen-hanger-i-luften-ett-katastrofomrade/a/QMGMkV

    1. Unfortunately, a death occurred yesterday.

“A 75-year-old man has died after a road collapse in Årsta in Härnösand municipality on Sunday, according to the police. The man’s car got stuck in a crevice when the road was washed away during the storm.

The accident happened on Sunday morning. The rescue service removed the man from the car and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but his life could not be saved. Another person traveling in the car was able to get out on their own.”
      https://omni.se/man-dod-efter-vagras-utanfor-harnosand/a/63Lqyz

    2. Also seems that they warned a bit less this time.

“SMHI issued only a yellow warning, the lowest on a three-level scale, for the heavy rainfall that caused major flooding in Västernorrland. The weather institute will now investigate if it was correct, TT writes.

      – This needs to be checked extra carefully since there have been such serious consequences, says meteorologist Magnus Nilsson Sangrud.”
      https://omni.se/bara-lagsta-varningen-utfardades-smhi-utreder/a/Rzkjm5

    3. On the 7th of August 2023, the embankment gave way when an X3000 train passed between Hudiksvall and Iggesund. 120 passengers plus onboard staff. Cause: Large amounts of water had undermined the embankment. A train driver in a previous train raised the alarm and the traffic control lowered the speed to approximately 40 km/h. This probably saved the lives of most of the approximately 125 people on board.
The Accident Investigation Board was very critical of the Swedish Transport Administration in its investigation. Among other things, they had not handled the risks of the storm and the heavy rainfall properly. I do not think the Swedish Transport Administration has learned from the mistake because they should have ordered track workers to inspect the most vulnerable sections of the track, but unfortunately, this was never done. Very poor!

        1. One learns as long as one has students, as my old teacher once said. But I think the “elephant graveyard” will soon have some additions around the coffee table. The Director General of the Swedish Transport Administration.

  7. Off-Topic, Sweden, electricity costs

    Johan, you must be ecstatic!!?!

It’s noticeable that it’s an election year next year, it will be interesting to see how much it will cost and how they intend to finance it? Wouldn’t it be better to expedite the process of getting new nuclear power in place instead?

“The opposition parties announce in Aftonbladet Debatt that the electricity tax will be reduced by almost ten öre per kilowatt-hour from the turn of the year.

The reduction corresponds to 20 percent of the regular tax rate and is estimated to reduce the electricity cost by around 1,000 kronor per year for a household without electric heating.

The government describes the measure as a “protection package” for households and businesses. In addition, a high-cost protection is introduced from November 2025 to 2026, which comes into effect when the electricity price exceeds 1.5 kronor per kilowatt-hour. A similar support is also planned for households heated with gas.”

    1. Valfläsk, valfläsk, all arooound!

I will not cast my vote for any of the parties in the parliament, no matter how much they try to bribe me!

      1. It’s a bit sad that there isn’t a single alternative that you feel like you want to vote for.

Sometimes I wish you could instead vote against parties instead of for. Would be somewhat easier.

        1. A bit like before, when you had to cross out on the ballot. But back then, the politicians became sad and offended and felt that there was soooo much hatred and threats, so they removed it.

It would have been interesting to see a deep dive into that process: You either vote for a party or against a party, not both.

I think there would have been fewer parties in parliament, which might have made things easier!?

          1. That was indeed an interesting thought! For or against!

A few less parties would probably make things easier, but at the same time, we wouldn’t want a situation like in the USA, where there are only two parties.

Unfortunately, it’s not entirely easy to achieve the perfect electoral system; I find this one interesting:

            “Why Democracy Is Mathematically Impossible”
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf7ws2DF-zk

A form of “rated voting” where you simply assign candidates/parties a score, for example, between -10 and 10 is discussed towards the end of the video, and that might be what works best. This way, you can give high scores to those you prefer, express dissatisfaction towards those you don’t like, and even give multiple candidates the same score.

A slightly simpler version is “approval rating,” where you just tick off those you think are okay.
This method has been used by the Vatican in the past and is currently used in selecting the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

I wish that we would dare to try one of these instead of what we have now.

  8. “The EU is considering imposing new sanctions on a handful of banks and energy companies in its nineteenth sanctions package against Russia, according to sources familiar with the matter for Bloomberg.

According to the sources, this time the sanctions could be directed at Russian payment and credit card systems, cryptocurrency exchanges, and the country’s oil trade. The hope is to coordinate efforts with the USA, and a European delegation will travel to Washington this week for further discussions.

Just yesterday, Donald Trump stated that he was ready to impose new sanctions on Russia, a statement later backed up by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

‘We are ready to increase pressure on Russia, but we need our partners in Europe to follow suit,’ Bessent told NBC’s Meet the Press.”

  9. Off-Topic, Israel – Palestine

Now some lunatics have attacked and killed civilians in Israel, and HAMAS is praising them.
Idiots who think it would benefit them in any way.

“Six people have been killed in a suspected terror attack on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Israeli media report. Another six people are seriously injured and several have minor injuries.

According to information to Channel 12, two perpetrators boarded a bus and shot passengers. The perpetrators were later shot dead on the spot.

    – We saw people lying unconscious on the road, along the roadside and on the sidewalk near a bus stop, says a paramedic.

Hamas praises the attack and states in a release that it was carried out by Palestinian militants as “a natural response to the occupation and genocide,” AFP reports.”

  10. Very interesting and uplifting from Kenneth! I have seen that what he said seems to be fairly accurate, so we can probably take this report very positively!
“08.09.2025 update. Already in late summer 2024, I said that Pokrovsk will never fall, despite strong opposition from experts and pundits. Now, a year later, it turns out that Pokrovsk will be the straw that breaks the Russian camel’s back. The Russians have lost enormous resources during the year they have tried to attack Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. When Hannu, I, and journalist Mikael were there last, we observed that the Russians ultimately do not have as many drones as claimed.
Now we have more evidence of this. The continued liberation of the areas around Dobropilla we have carried out with armored vehicles without the intervention of Russian drones!!! In yesterday’s update, I mentioned that we are warding off about 70% of the Russian drones in the area. When we establish air superiority in an area, we can move in with armored vehicles, allowing us to bring in enough infantry quickly. Furthermore, when our scout groups have softened up the Russian dugouts, we can quickly take over the area. The tactics we use minimize our own losses; the scout groups take out the Russians’ maintenance, and at exactly the right time, our armored vehicles come in. Up at Kucheriv Yar, the exhausted Russian soldiers surrender without much of a fight.
The Russians have also given up hope of taking Rodynske thanks to Novoekonomichne being under our control. The attack with ancient armored vehicles along the main road towards Novoekonomichne was completely destroyed by the unit we, and therefore you, support.
We will see how our units cut off the Russians by taking a corridor from Novotoretske-Razine, whereby the Russians west of the line are completely surrounded. At the same time, the large Russian forces at Koptieve are cut off from the area, they have no road to come through.
The battle for Pokrovsk is also the final battle for Donetsk, all other small successes for us or the Russians on other fronts do not matter. Pokrovsk determines the entire war because after that battle, the Russians are completely out of resources. We have resources left, even if they are small, but better some resources than none at all.
Then we come to the Russian economy, which is now the main reason for the orcs’ bombing of our cities. After yesterday’s attack on the Russian refinery capacity, about 25% of it is in ruins. This means that the fuel crisis will soon reach Moscow and St. Petersburg. With the bombing of our cities, the Kremlin surely wants to put pressure on us to agree not to bomb their oil/gas infrastructure and not to bomb our civilians. Since their latest massive bombing did not achieve the desired result, we have now seen an intense Russian reconnaissance operation of the Kievska Sea and the dam there. I also see that we have reinforced the air defense of the dam.”

    1. The text remains the same after translation:

does not have as many drones as claimed. I suspected that! A lot of talk and little….!!

      1. However, AFU also reports that the Russians are using many drones, so it’s not just pro-Russian bragging.

Admittedly, there has been a slight hiccup in the rising curve and just now at the end it has leveled off (otherwise I thought they would have exceeded 6,000 per day by now).

There have been some reports lately that the Russian volunteers and others who collect money for the Russian soldiers have had difficulty raising funds for the purchase of drones and other equipment, perhaps it is so that they account for a large number of the simpler consumer drones that are used.

Here is what AFU has reported:

  12. Merz must be a real honor scoundrel if they can’t come up with anything better about him so they have to resort to using AI-generated fake videos.

“German Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz has quickly become one of the main targets of Russian disinformation due to his unwavering support for Ukraine, reports Politico.

Among other things, Merz is accused in a fake news article that has been circulating during the summer of shooting a female polar bear and her two cubs. In the fake video clip, an AI-generated Inuit says that what Merz did is “not only illegal, but a crime against everything we believe in”.

    Frontline report:

Ukraine takes out russia’s radars one by one in #Crimea—now Bayraktars are free to fly and kill again
With S-400 surface-to-air missile systems blinded and boats exposed, drone strikes have returned to the skies over Crimea.
Today, there are interesting updates from Crimea.

Here, Ukraine has reignited one of its most iconic weapons campaigns, unleashing a wave of Bayraktar drone strikes after systematically dismantling russia’s air defenses.

With the skies cleared, and the battlefield exposed, the return of these drones has already cost russia hundreds of troops and naval vessels.

(Screenshot from Reporting from Ukraine’s video)

    🧵2/7
Ukraine clears the skies — and brings Bayraktars back

The Bayraktar drone, once a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience in the early months of the war, is experiencing a resurgence, as Ukraine’s Navy and Defense Intelligence have released a lot of combat footage from the most recent strikes campaign carried out against russian naval targets in the #Kherson region.

One clip shows the destruction of a russian high-speed boat near Zaliznyi Port, which had been preparing to transport troops to the Tendrivska Spit, a key russian staging point for drone relay stations and observation missions across the northern Black Sea.

Seven russian soldiers were killed and four were wounded in the attack, and analysis suggests the strike was delivered by Roketsan’s MAM-L guided munition.

    1. They began to suspect that they were planning to carry out air strikes, but if they still have access to the Bayraktar, it’s absolutely perfect!

They can cause quite a stir, plus it’s perfect to test if there are any enemy air defense systems left without risking pilots and expensive aircraft.

      Excellent! 👍

    2. Nice that they have been able to start using Bayraktar again, with air superiority it’s probably getting hot under the collar for the Russian devil.

    1. It would be fucking awful, but at the same time difficult to understand what the benefit would be.

The only thing I could think of is an attack to tie up Finnish and NATO troops before the attack on the Baltics. The Finnish and Swedish air forces are supposed to keep the airspace clear over the Baltics in case of war down there.

They could try to cut off Finland up in Lapland, it went well last time, with 14,000 dead Russians on a road in the wilderness, or, actually most of them were forcibly requisitioned Ukrainians, they didn’t pick soldiers from core Russia in the Russian way.

It’s customary for the Russians to accuse others of what they intend to do themselves, so it’s probably important for the Finnish defense to keep their eyes open. Now Finland has raised the age limit in the reserve to 60 years, and the willingness to defend is high, so there would probably be heaps of dead Russians if they tried to cross the border.

  14. Feels a bit strange that the USA is pressuring the EU to stop importing from Russia.

Not that they are doing it, that’s good, but that the EU countries haven’t had the sense to stop it themselves even though it’s been 3.5 years!!!

“⚡️EU to phase out Russian energy supplies as soon as possible, EU spokesperson says, following US criticism.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright told the Financial Times that European countries must halt imports of Russian oil and gas if they expect Washington to escalate sanctions against Moscow.”

    https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lydms6y2522a

    1. Yes, backwards. And it’s not the first time. The EU received criticism for the Northstream 2 project as early as 2020/2021 due to us becoming dependent on Russian energy. The criticism came from the same administration. And perhaps that’s exactly what Putin has exploited when he has been able to escalate his warfare against Ukraine without Europe responding sharply. Europe has been too comfortable to take a tough stance, because it would have meant that we would have had high energy costs?

    2. Well, it’s probably strange that the EU countries haven’t stopped it themselves, but it’s mainly Hungary and Slovakia that are still more or less dependent on Russian fuel. They have had three years to look for alternatives, but it’s probably Russia that bribes the best.

At the same time, it’s also a way for Trump to shift focus from his own flirting with Putin, and then maybe the US can sell a little more LNG to Europe.

  15. Doesn’t feel good, risk that the pro-Russian right strengthens its positions. We’ll see if there will be a new election. Russian propaganda is running at full throttle in Europe.

“France’s Prime Minister François Bayrou is ousted in the vote of no confidence in the National Assembly. This means that the French minority government falls. 364 voted against Bayrou, who has been criticized for his handling of the country’s national debt. 194 members voted for Bayrou and 15 chose to abstain.”

    https://omni.se/a/mPAKWE

    1. Even the Left Party The Unbowed France has a problematic attitude. They have an apologetic stance where they believe that the USA and NATO are partly to blame for having provoked Russia’s invasion.

  16. Part of Russian hybrid warfare?

“Heathrow Airport’s terminal 4 has been evacuated, reports Sky News. The other terminals at the airport outside London are operating as usual. According to initial sketchy information, ‘potentially dangerous material’ has been found inside the terminal. The fire brigade is working on site, and in images on social media, ambulances can be seen outside the airport building, writes Daily Mail.”

    https://omni.se/a/jQRv5L

  17. “The CEO of a Russian salt mining company has been found decapitated under a bridge in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, reports Moscow Times. He is at least the 19th in line of top executives and businessmen who have died under mysterious circumstances such as sudden falls from windows or collisions since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, several media outlets note.”

    https://omni.se/a/GyprLl

  18. Not much new about Zapad as far as I can see?

Anyway, the high-intensity phase is starting on Friday and Europe has apparently decided to keep a low profile.
