Ukraine attacked an airbase during the night – Russian losses

During the night, Ukraine attacked the military airbase Savasleyka. The airbase is used, among other things, by fighter jets of the MIG-31 type, which are used to launch the ballistic missiles Kinzhal. Fires have been reported in the area, and the governor has confirmed that there was an attack, although he did not specify exactly what was targeted. Strangely, he does not seem to have mentioned anything about wreckage. The airbase is located about 660 km from Ukraine. Attacks have also been reported in the Samara region, which is 800 kilometers from Ukraine’s border with Russia, but there are no more detailed reports at this time. Operational information at 08:00 on August 14, 2026, regarding the Russian invasion

Glory to Ukraine!

The 1,633rd day of the Russian Federation’s large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine has begun.

A total of 222 combat engagements were recorded over the past day.

Yesterday, the enemy conducted 76 airstrikes, dropping 237 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, the attackers used 10,027 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,011 shellings of communities and our forces’ positions.

The enemy’s artillery shelling hit the communities of Korenok, Ulanove, Vyntorivka, Jastrubshchyna, and Seredyna-Buda in the Sumy region. Furthermore, areas around the communities of Velyka Chernechchyna and Tovstodubove in the Sumy region were subjected to airstrikes.

Over the past day, the defense forces’ aviation, missile units, and artillery struck 14 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated, as well as two command centers for unmanned aerial vehicles.

On the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk sectors, our defenders stopped four enemy assault attempts during the past day. At the same time, the attacker carried out three airstrikes with four guided aerial bombs and 68 shellings of our forces’ positions and communities.

On the Southern Slobozhansky sector, Ukrainian units repelled 15 enemy attacks. The attackers tried to advance in the areas around Starytsia and Lyman as well as towards Khatnie and Kolodiazne.

On the Kupiansk sector, the enemy launched an attack towards Zahryzove.

Attempts to penetrate our defense were repelled on the Lyman sector, where the occupiers attacked ten times in the area around Zarichne and towards Novoselivka, Shyikivka, and Drobysheve.

On the Sloviansk sector, the enemy conducted 17 assault attempts in the areas around Kryva Luka, Zakitne, and Riznykivka, as well as towards Rai-Oleksandrivka.

On the Kramatorsk sector, the occupiers attacked twice towards the communities of Nykyforivka and Yurkivka.

On the Kostiantynivka sector, 29 attacks were recorded. The attackers conducted assault attempts in the areas around Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Ivanopillia, as well as towards Rusyn Jar and Stepanivka.

On the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders stopped 25 attacks. The enemy was active in the areas around Rodynske and Serhiivka and also conducted assaults towards Novyi Donbas, Hannivka, Shevchenko, Novohrishyne, Vasylivka, Myrne, Udachne, and Muravka.

On the Oleksandrivka sector, the attackers carried out seven attacks towards the communities of Kalynivske, Vorone, Ternove, and Berezove.

On the Huliaipole sector, the occupiers attacked twelve times. The enemy tried to advance towards Vozdvyzhivka, Tsvitkove, Staroukrainka, Danylivka, and Charivne.

On the Orikhiv sector, our defenders stopped an enemy attempt to advance towards Pavlivka.

In the Dnipro area, the enemy conducted no assault actions over the past day.

In the Volyn and Polissya sectors, no signs of the enemy forming offensive force groupings have been detected.

The Ukrainian defenders continue the systematic combat against the enemy and effectively resist along all parts of the front.

The total Russian attackers’ losses over the past day amounted to 1,470 personnel. Additionally, two tanks, 11 armored fighting vehicles, 46 artillery systems, one rocket artillery system, three air defense systems, 14 ground-based missile systems, 1,676 unmanned aerial vehicles, 448 motor vehicles, and two units of special equipment were neutralized.

    Trump decided that the USA would withdraw and reduced the presence of soldiers from 13,000 to 2,500. Biden was not any better and ended the withdrawal.

    I think one should think twice or even thrice before starting a war, but once it has been done and if continued presence is better for the population, one should have stayed.

    On the other hand, no one else raised their hand and volunteered to take over.

    If the Iran war would actually lead to regime change, how long would it last?

      I can only agree.
      At the same time, it is deafeningly silent today from those who in particularly harsh terms condemned the Bush administration for the invasion and almost saw the Taliban as victims.

        The war has some similarities with the Iran war, there were discussions with the Taliban and even though they did not directly want to agree to the US conditions, they still negotiated. They wanted to see proof and were willing to hold a trial or extradite bin Laden to a third country.

        That was not enough for the US and they started a war which they quickly won, then the goal changed and the war continued.

        Was it right to start the war?

        I am doubtful in hindsight.

        It could have ended well, Afghanistan could have been a flourishing country but they gave up before reaching that point. 

        It is estimated that around 175,000 were killed, of which nearly 50,000 were civilians, plus all the injured and disabled.

        All that because they wanted bin Laden extradited due to attacks that killed about 3,000 Americans. Clearly he and the other culprits must be brought to justice, but could it perhaps have been resolved better?

        The war became a bit like the police bombing a block of flats because they are quite sure a wanted person is in one of the apartments but no one wants to open the front door.

        The Taliban are not nice people, but they were not behind the attacks, they just refused to hand over the guilty. Did they deserve to die for that? Certainly many of them, but did the civilian population deserve to die? 

        When the war was started and it turned into an attempt to change Afghanistan, it should have been completed and if they had succeeded it would still have brought something good.

        The war between Israel and Palestine looked roughly the same. About 2,500 Israelis killed and around 70,000 Palestinians killed.

        How much can justice/revenge cost? Or the liberation of a people?

        It remains to be seen what the war in Iran will end with.

        The USA doesn’t really have a good track record when it comes to reforming and changing countries they consider rogue states. Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Libya, among others.
        They focus on their own excellence and military strength but forget the local variation, culture, internal conflicts, and above all: civil society.

        A bit like Sweden, which believes that the Swedish system can be applied to everyone else but with incredibly poor self-criticism.

          One exception is probably Douglas MacArthur, who led the occupation of Japan from 1945 to 1951.
          However, they had a historically functioning society from before the fascists took power to fall back on, as well as a unifying force in Emperor Hirohito.

      The leadership is so damn afraid of women because they know that women are significantly sharper morally and mentally and if they were to get more power they would relegate these Neanderthals and their distorted Quran interpretation and science denial to the historical manure heap where they belong.

      And yes, the USA should have ensured that the ordinary Afghan army had control over the Taliban before they left, but that Trump bastard probably saw nothing wrong with the Taliban’s view of women.

    Nice to read that people support each other and good that no one was injured or killed.

    Not to diminish what happened to those affected who lost everything they own, but at the same time much bigger disasters happen every day in Ukraine, caused by completely deliberate Russian attacks. Maybe the fire can make a few more people feel sympathy for the Ukrainians.

    Strange that Ukraine does not sabotage the Trans-Siberian Railway. North Korea sends a lot of military material via that route. Is there some kind of unholy alliance that keeps it intact? Does Ukraine not want to disrupt the Chinese export/import that goes on the Trans-Siberian? Ukraine could easily make the line impassable for months. I traveled there in 2017 and know that there are sections that would be suitable for sabotage.

      It almost has to be like you are suggesting, that one does not want to destroy things for China. Without China, Russia would be forced to give up, while at the same time Ukraine is probably worried that they will enter the war more actively.

      Then Russia is probably quick to repair its railways, but there must be quite a few bridges or tunnels to blow up that would take a long time to fix.

      But maybe there will be explosions anyway further ahead. Ukraine has almost completely dropped all restraints now when it comes to striking inside Russia. They haven’t attacked warehouses like Wildberries before, so the Trans-Siberian Railway might also get a visit soon.
