Ukraine has carried out attacks in both Belgorod and Smolensk.

Belgorod

According to the governor, the city of Belgorod has been subjected to the most extensive Ukrainian attack so far, and it is also claimed that HIMARS would have been used. According to reports, no one was injured, but the energy infrastructure was affected. The information is unconfirmed so far. Ukraine has recently increasingly focused on Russian energy supply by attacking both infrastructure, combined heat and power plants, and substations. Parts of the Russian population are now experiencing what it is like to be without electricity and heating during the winter. Read more at Kyiv Independent.

Smolensk

According to videos and rumors released from Dorogobuzh in Smolensk, there is a strong fire believed to be coming from the chemical factory. There is also a combined heat and power plant nearby. In addition, there are videos showing that the oil refinery in Yaroslavl is on fire.

  1. Another day with calmer Russian pressure, after the extreme offensive against Pokrovsk the other day with 97 attacks. It usually alternates between the higher and lower levels, about every other day. Or does it take longer for the Russians to gather themselves? However, continued strong pressure against Pokrovsk. Approximately every third attack was unlocalized, and maybe Ukrainian.

  2. From yesterday’s comment section, interview with Martin Kragh in SvD.

Venezuela. Iran. Syria. Countries that Russian President Vladimir Putin has built partnerships with during his many years in power are in deep crisis.

“It is a prestige loss for Putin that his friends on the international stage are losing power,” says Russia expert Martin Kragh.

Russia’s ties to states currently undergoing upheavals have not provided any security guarantee. When these countries have faced monumental difficulties, Moscow has refrained from coming to their rescue.

Not taking action when friends are in crisis is considered by some to undermine Moscow’s ideas of a “multipolar world,” says a source close to the Russian government to the independent Russian Meduza.

Trump’s actions in Venezuela/Syria/Iran undermine Russia’s and China’s ambitions for a multipolar world, if one were to take a strict interpretation. The multipolar world is seen as a threat to the prevailing world order.

So, the situation is reversed with world orders. Trump’s actions do not contribute to a multipolar world order but preserve the one we are accustomed to, where Europe sleeps and the USA acts (Lex Balkan).

Prestige loss for Putin as friends falter

    1. Clearly, Russia has no friends. When I traveled on the Trans-Siberian Railway in 2017, we had three-day stops in Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, and Vladivostok. We interacted with many Russians during the trip and all (with some exceptions) were friendly towards us. Everyone had negative opinions about Asian tourists, especially the Chinese, but only had good things to say about us from the Nordic countries. We were easy to deal with and never arrogant. Now the Russians only have the Chinese left as tourists in the country. That’s how it goes.

    2. Hm, Russia is only allied with a suitable dictator as long as it benefits them. When the dictator starts feeling the heat, and if they manage to take the state treasury with them, they can flee to Russia; if not, Russia will leave the scene.

  3. Belgorod experienced what regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov described as the most massive attack on the city so far. Local channels reported more than 50 explosions overnight. According to preliminary information, the strike damaged energy infrastructure, including the city’s thermal power plant.

  4. 🤖 NATO is preparing a no-man’s-land robotic zone on the border with Russia and Belarus, said NATO General, — WELT In particular, according to the concept, a multi-layered defense system will be created along NATO’s borders with Russia and Belarus, combining sensors, automated means and robotic systems that will be able to detect the enemy and deter his advance at the early stages. In addition, this will help save the lives of NATO soldiers.

  5. “In Taganrog, explosions were reported overnight, followed by a temporary power outage. According to initial reports, an electrical transformer blew up, cutting electricity across parts of the city. Power was later partially restored.”

    1. Yes, probably, and he is surely satisfied with it, he has had a terrible presidential period, but handled it with bravura, all against the wind, sluggish Europeans and unreliable Americans as the only support.

There are not many who could handle this, he is a man of uranium.

  6. Budanov is here for a reason – a brilliant career as a chief of the Special Operations Forces, the US likes that.

He also doesn’t seem to be corrupt, which has been the case with some in the administration.

The US is building ties for the future.

    1. We didn’t manage to keep up, Trump saw an opportunity and the USA + Russia don’t want us involved, they want to divide the peace prize between themselves.

That might be why Zelensky has been so tough on Europe lately, sure we deserve criticism, but it was probably partly because the USA and Russia wanted to hear it.

  7. 🇨🇺 🇺🇸

USS Gerald R. Ford and USS George Washington are located a few kilometers from Cuba.

      1. It’s probably not an American attack on Cuba underway, as they wouldn’t have sent a bunch of resources to the Middle East, but rather a security measure the USA is taking in the face of a potential attack on Iran, which has promised full-on war. Prepared to shoot down any Iranian missiles launched from a Cuba militarily allied with Iran. Or at least make them think twice.
