When you are forced to move, you have probably been eating porridge morning, noon, and night for quite a while already.
Before we moved, I thought we had a manageable loan really but now the interest rate had gone up 500% a little over 1.5 years and you can’t reduce costs correspondingly or increase your income correspondingly.
If we had stayed, it probably would have been game over during 2024.
It is simply a critical situation for very many right now.

What do those who know their stuff think about the thread regarding last winter’s electricity prices?
Right now, one is a bit hopeful and thinks it is because the reservoirs are full, all reactors serviced, and Finland’s new reactor is up and running – is that correct?
Since we are away, we don’t turn on any heating at all before it gets a bit colder but over Christmas you preferably want to avoid having to chip ice out of the shower in the mornings.

Can you “turn off” the wind turbines so they don’t produce electricity?
A bit conspiratorial, I guess the government has demanded that the remaining reactors be professionally maintained this winter, last year it was a forgotten wrench that caused a shutdown for months and that someone forgot to turn on the water tap and that it should run at full capacity regardless of the price?
The companies that have invested in wind power probably have loans I guess and should bleed badly at low prices?

After last winter’s electricity prices, I know a couple of families who gave up rented houses and squeezed into too small an apartment with district heating instead just to get by.
I know someone in Stockholm who had an apartment with a 1.8 million SEK loan or something like that who had to sell, a single parent with children where it altogether became too expensive.
As we know, we sold the house early 2022 and moved out of Stockholm but if I look at the actual cost increase, we wouldn’t have managed it now, a whole salary to the bank and then bills and increased costs in everything else plus last winter’s electricity prices so yes, we probably would have taken from our savings too if we had stayed and unfortunately they are not infinite so it would have had an end date.
Going from a house and home which is a two-room apartment in Fruängen, a regular villa in Stockholm or a small house in the countryside as a full-time worker is interesting. The whole discussion about not spending more than 30% on housing has completely died out just like the discussion about the minimum indoor temperature which was supposed to be 21 degrees or something?
