It has taken two years for the county administrative board to get back with a digging permit for 20m of district heating to our house, they have now promised that a decision will be made this fall. The land is sacred and the risk that you have to pay for an archaeologist yourself is imminent according to the district heating company, and they have hourly rates you would sacrifice a hand for.

The district heating company also has an investment stop and will only know in 2025 if they can take in new customers.

So I bought a new geothermal heat pump, NIBE something, so we will see how the indoor climate and cost turn out.
When talking to the installers, the pumps are becoming quite efficient.

Now to the question –
Thinking about the following and if it is even practical –
Sodium-Ion batteries in the basement.
Wind turbine on the roof (tall house that rises above surrounding houses) the models that look a bit more fun and not a propeller and are guaranteed silent. There are lots on Amazon.
Then slap on solar panels, would have liked the ones most talked about that are a membrane that goes on the roof since we have a large metal roof.

The wind turbine and batteries don’t seem to cost too much and the installation should be possible to get at a reasonable price?
The latest generation of solar panels will probably be like an armed robbery.

Is it even worth looking at something like this?
What you want is to get rid of the big cost Dec – Feb and the new generation of solar panels should be able to work then too and a wind turbine always does something, right?
