Difficult topic, figuring out how it should be de-escalated. My simple answer is to beat Russia and throw them out of Ukraine… 😄
It might end with a blowout but I don’t really think so.
If it ends with a loss for Ukraine, Putin will breathe a sigh of relief and then do everything he can to trick the West into resuming relations. There is some simmering in the West but a loss in Ukraine would ease the pressure and many will probably be relieved and many probably won’t want to acknowledge it happened and continue as usual.
Until next time, but I think that might take a while. Russia has survived through its enormous stockpiles which are not much left of. If Russia continues to spend as much money on its war industry even after a victory, Putin will probably realize it will be difficult to return to normal. The population will probably also get tired if they have won but still continue to drive the economy into the basement through weapons production.
Now I hope, and expect, that we won’t have to find out who of us is right because Ukraine will come out victorious from this. The simmering in the West is slowly increasing as is the support for Ukraine, Russia will eventually be broken.
I think more and more realize that this is the only right thing given how much is revealed about Russia’s subversive activities, suddenly it’s not just Ukraine that suffers but also the countries that help out.
At some point they have to realize that it is us hanging here who are right! 🙂
Ukraine must get more resources, Putin’s red lines are just ridiculous and the best thing is that Ukraine wins and as soon as possible!

UA has conducted counterattacks at possibly four locations in total, most recently also in Toretsk.
RU is less than 1 km from Bohoyavlenka after Vuhledar.
Kurakhivka and Selidove are probably soon lost but it is a delaying battle and nothing to worry about (meant in that way).
At Kursk it is worryingly quiet especially since UA reports that the North Koreans are starting their tour up there – risk of more therefore because RU has by no means lost 50,000 – 70,000 in that area.

I’m Friday-thinking a bit about how to “de-escalate” the situation globally. We are all different and come from different cultures so if the West were to try to take some kind of initiative it would first of all be important to understand the other party.
Right now the world has gone down into the negative spiral that historically leads to global conflict.
The problem is that we look after ourselves, not Russia’s or China’s best interests and automatically they will not think what we do is best for them. We will also not support what is best for them because we want what is okay for us.
The current world order has been somewhat like if you cross a border it blows up so stick to the rules.
And now we have started to deviate from this with Ukraine, a first tentative step where they test if it works.
My conclusion has become that people have forgotten, the pressure is increasing, there will be war and only when we have had a serious blowout are people ready to sit down and discuss how to avoid it in the future.
Rinse and repeat.
The UN being in Kazan with Putin is nothing less than a huge scandal that should send shockwaves through the West but we just roll around and keep sleeping.
Then BRICS presented their new currency.
What is happening in Africa?
Many countries in Africa are quite tired of the West from colonization to our companies stealing all the raw materials they could.
But now they have just switched to Wagner and China and realize they are even worse.
Africa should be able to be persuaded to throw out Wagner and China through fair ongoing trade agreements.
We start with the countries that have raw materials we need and they get a fair deal simply.
Then we open our market for that country and provide expertise there/if needed without trying to take over. They pay for it but get access to it.
We do not interfere in politics and finger-wagging but believe that with stability and prosperity better governments will come.
The risk is probably that Russia and China sponsor rebel movements and the West will probably counter with training maybe?
But… if you have the citizens of a country with you, rebel movements often have a very hard time.
I find Russia difficult – their subversive activities feed criminals throughout the West and make our countries worse. They wage inter-state wars and destabilize Africa as much as they can.
The proposal I could come up with is to pressure Russia so that for normalization of relations/situation they are forced to stay away from Belarus, demilitarize Kaliningrad and let some partial republics become independent in an organized way?
In some way the West must also get rid of the subversive activities and here one might have to act instead of low-affect responses?
When I get here I start to wonder if it is even possible or if the course of nature is that there will be a serious blowout, everyone gets tired of war and then they sit down and try to find a balance?
I don’t know but I suspect the longer the West chooses to wait the bigger the blowout will be.
