Russia once again uses phosphorus as a weapon
Russia has resumed using phosphorus, video showing how it is used against the city of Kostiantynivka. Phosphorus is disgusting even if it is not quite as horrendous as thermite. Phosphorus is not allowed to be used as a weapon and definitely not against residential areas where civilians may be present. It is permitted to be used in tracer ammunition and flares or to generate smoke in smoke grenades, etc.
Hungary now positive towards Ukrainian EU membership
Ukraine has signed an agreement concerning the protection of the Hungarian minority in the country, which in turn has led Hungary to announce that they will not block Ukraine from becoming an EU member. This may also be related to the Druzhba pipeline now being restored so that oil exports from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia have been able to resume. Hungary has also indicated that they may be willing to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
Relations between Hungary and Ukraine have rapidly improved since Orbán lost the election. This can only be interpreted as it was he, and not the Hungarian population, who sided with Russia. Although Magyar has previously stated that they are not willing to provide weapons and money to Ukraine, as long as they do not otherwise oppose Ukraine, it is much better than before. Read more here and here.
USA may approve 8 billion USD for Ukraine
In the USA, despite opposition from Trump and his administration, a proposal regarding continued support to Ukraine amounting to 8 billion USD was advanced. The motion to proceed with the bill was passed with 218 in favor and 204 against. Six Republicans broke party lines and sided with the Democrats.
The process was long blocked by Mike Johnson, who as Speaker refused to bring up the issue (which is not the first time for those who remember the 50 billion USD he blocked for over half a year while Biden was president), but now it has finally been possible to move forward, though it must be approved by both the House and the Senate to become law. Since Trump became president, US support for Ukraine has decreased by 99%. Read more here.
8 billion USD is significantly more than the 400 million previously budgeted, although of course much less than under Biden, and the question is whether it will really pass both the House and Senate; it requires some Republicans to dare to oppose Trump for it to happen.

Good and should be a non-issue that was done a long time ago.
When the EU’s migration ministers meet in Luxembourg on Thursday, Sweden will demand that Russian citizens should not be allowed to vacation within the union. This is stated by Migration Minister Johan Forssell (M) to Aftonbladet.
– We must put an end to Russian weekend trips around the Mediterranean with luxury shopping while Ukrainian women and men are simultaneously dying on the battlefield and taking shelter under the rubble, Forssell tells the newspaper.
Last year, nearly half a million visas were issued to Russian tourists who wanted to visit one of the countries included in Schengen, Euractiv recently reported.

Off-Topic, Trump Approval Ratings
Nu ser det ut att börja plana ut:
New York times:
Silver Bulletin:

😂
The Economist may be leveling off. Looks like it can’t go much lower. A curve cannot go below.
Now Economist is a bit extra unfavorably disposed towards Trump, maybe it can go down a little more but the bottom should soon be reached. Many hold on to their conviction regardless of what happens.
Ukraine’s new drone killer developed in record time
Thales’ rocket factory in Belgium has developed a new counterweapon to help Ukraine shoot down Russia’s drones, reports SVT Nyheter.
The so-called drone killer contains nearly 7,000 steel balls that scatter when the rocket explodes near a drone. Thanks to EU support, the rocket was developed in just 12 months.
The goal is to produce 100,000 “drone killers” per year from 2028. According to Olivier Heuschen, product manager at the rocket factory, they could have maintained a significantly higher production rate.
– But we lack enough explosives. There are not many suppliers in Europe.
Exactly, there is a completely unnecessary bottleneck there. We can scale up at any time, but then the environmental movement starts to complain because production causes emissions. However, the same environmental movement thinks it is okay to import from other countries.
It should also be noted that Sweden has the lowest emissions in Europe (currently even net negative emissions) and has had so since we introduced nuclear power. We also have functioning occupational health and safety legislation and sophisticated technology that reduces emissions to a minimum.
One can wonder whether a stance where we constantly oppose all production that affects the environment/emissions in Sweden is morally defensible or “sustainable” when we accept imports from countries with lax or non-existent legislation in these areas.
Well, unfortunately there are, among other things, environmental permits etc. that cause a lot of trouble.
But it is not the environmental movement that handles them. The current government should be able to change the regulations and introduce exceptions if they want.
However, the environmental movement has obviously been behind the tougher environmental legislation we have received, but as mentioned, it can be changed, just as permits for nuclear power have been simplified and facilitated.
Then we still have problems with raw material availability when it comes to, for example, nitrocellulose etc., and many countries are currently competing for access. I guess that is unfortunately the absolute biggest problem.
Another obstacle is, of course, long-term orders. It is expensive to expand and one avoids doing so if one does not know that one will receive continued orders. Even here, the government and the defense forces should be able to find solutions, but it probably is not enough for Sweden to place large orders; it probably also requires increased orders from other countries.
If one had known in 2022 that the war would still be ongoing, one probably would have dared to invest then; now no one knows when it might end, and as soon as it does, the most urgent needs will decrease even though it will take a long time to fill all empty stockpiles.
We had about 6-7 well-functioning factories for ammunition and gunpowder after WW2, several of which were completely or partially blasted into rock chambers and impossible to take out. These were put on hold to then be phased out when the politicians decided that eternal peace had arrived.
There were different alternatives to cotton that were developed and used (cellulose is cellulose even though cotton is one of the easiest raw materials to utilize).
The government can do as with cement and decide that production is necessary for our security and self-sufficiency, so I believe investments are needed.
And as far as I know, there are no signals missing from the political side, so large orders are probably needed for anything to happen.
Yes, if large orders were placed so that companies became motivated to invest, most things could probably be solved.
The problem is probably that it should have been done already in 2022.
Especially if you want to achieve large-scale production from wood cellulose, because that process is mostly still at the lab stage and it will take time to develop large-scale production (and it will be significantly more expensive than starting from cotton) but it is possible if you want.
And just because it would have preferably been done in 2022, it is not too late to do it now.
Resultatet från omröstningen jag skrev om i inlägget. Wondering how many of the participants really appreciate Tate, Seagal, and Owens?
Typical that the USA under Trump is now also sending an official. 🤮
“The male influencer Andrew Tate, former movie star Steven Seagal, and conspiracy theorist Candace Owens are some of the guests at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which has now begun. This is reported by The Independent.
The event, which runs until Saturday, is often described as Putin’s Davos and is the Russian president’s attempt to organize his own version of the economic conference held in Switzerland every January. Traditionally, it attracts controversial debaters who want to push back against the ‘wokeism’ they believe characterizes the Western world.
This year Rodney Mims Cook Jr., who leads the work on Trump’s ballroom, is also participating. He is the first American official to attend since 2018.
Owens, who among other things has spread unfounded conspiracy theories about the Macron couple, is scheduled to give a lecture on combining family and career.”

Off-Topic, EU vs USA
Here they really go all out! They are changing the default search engine! 😄
It should probably be seen more as a small statement against the USA than something that really matters.
“The EU Parliament is replacing Google with the French Qwant as the default search engine, writes Politico. The decision follows a longer debate about the EU institutions’ dependence on American tech giants.
Parliamentarians will still be able to use other search engines if they want, but Qwant will be the default option in the Firefox and Edge browsers.”

Couldn’t they have replaced the web browsers as well?
Off-Topic, domestic politics
I don’t think it’s a successful tactic to blame others by claiming that the opposition is cheating when you lose voters. The exaggerated scare tactic “What if Sweden wakes up to the shock of a historic left-leaning government” is just silly.
The Democrats in the USA ran on the message that it would be sooo bad if Trump won. They were of course right, but it doesn’t matter, they lost anyway.
I don’t think that tactic works. If you want to win the election, you should probably promote your own policies and not spend too much time criticizing others.
The opposition, on the other hand, has a different position because they can of course point out everything they think has been done poorly and highlight that, but I don’t think that in itself is a winning strategy for them either, unless they have more than that to offer.
All parties should behave more maturely and talk about their visions and what they plan to do if they win instead of throwing dirt at others.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that will happen, but one can dream a little, right?
“The Moderates and the Tidö parties are falling back in SCB’s major party sympathy poll. M explains the decline in opinion by saying that the Social Democrats have gotten away with a number of ‘bluffs’ during the election campaign, writes Expressen.
– The Social Democrats are pounding in the lie that there have been cuts in welfare, says campaign leader Martin Borgs.
Party secretary Karin Enström simultaneously accuses S of creating ‘smokescreens.’ She means that if the opposition wins the election, S will invite V to govern together.
– If the election were today, Sweden would wake up to the shock of a historic left-leaning government, says Karin Enström according to Aftonbladet.
The Moderates are now placing their hopes on the undecided voters, whom the party says make up a large group and often lean to the right.
In SCB’s poll, the opposition bloc leads by over 12.5 percentage points over the Tidö side.”
https://omni.se/m-s-forklaring-till-underlaget-s-har-lyckats-med-bluffar/a/JOlK6m
You are the coach of an elite hockey team. The first period is over and you are down 0-3. During the break, it’s time to talk to the players.
“Things are going really badly for us but it’s the other team’s fault. They play very hard and hit very dirty. Unfortunately, they also have the referee on their side, they should have had at least two penalties.
Then they constantly man-mark our best forwards so we don’t get the chance to score.
We are also playing away and the crowd is dreadful, they boo as soon as we get the puck and disturb our play.
It’s not our fault that we are down by three goals.”
What do you think, can you turn the game around with that kind of pep talk?
As ridiculous as when S realized they were about to lose the election and held a press conference where they basically said that if we don’t win, it’s a threat to democracy.
The funny thing is that a local SD politician used the same expression when they didn’t get their way!
It’s damn like an adult daycare!
Yes, it unfortunately feels a bit like that.
The election will probably be interesting, we have the Left Party nominating people for the municipal election who don’t even speak Swedish well enough (according to Expressen? yesterday) to want to be interviewed in Swedish on one side, and that former SD member of parliament as well as SD’s history on the other side. I’m not saying that all SD members are the same, but together with V they obviously have problems finding competent people who do not praise Hamas, Hezbollah, or hold unpleasant views such as xenophobia.
And the Liberals should take a time out from this election given how poorly they are doing. Voting for L is likely to be a wasted vote as it seems, so they should probably try to reinvent their party or something.
Yes, both extremes have problems, and then, as you write, not everyone, neither politicians nor those who vote for them.
A long time ago, the Liberals were a somewhat reasonable middle ground, but then I don’t know what happened. Maybe it’s due to the increasing polarization, where no one in the middle is good enough. The Centre Party might go the same way.
—-
I would like some form of direct democracy so that one can instead take a stand both on specific issues but also on bigger questions like the budget, etc. But that would probably require a digital solution to be manageable, and we are probably not ready for that for many years. Moreover, most of the population would not have the energy to engage at the level that would be required.
In the absence of anything else, maybe it will still have to be a vote for the Direct Democrats this year.
direct democracy
Maybe not perfect, but their idea today is the closest you can get to what I would like to see.
Their idea is that if they get people into parliament, they will then present all the issues to be voted on on the website.
There, the members of the DD get to vote on what they think, and then the DD representatives in parliament vote based on how it went. So they have no own party line, etc., but “the people” can directly participate and say what they think on each issue.
https://direktdemokraterna.se/
A big problem, of course, is that it will just be a bunch of individual issues and no overall context.
For example, it could be that everyone votes for things they are interested in, which then increases expenses (someone wants increased funding for the police, someone else for the defense, and so on), but it becomes unsustainable because somewhere the money has to come from, either higher taxes (which no one wants to vote for) or cutting costs (which no one will vote for either).
Having this in some cases, yes, but not all issues. There is a risk that it becomes contradictory.
Should we have more people sentenced to prison? YES
Should we build more prison places? YES
Do you want a prison in your municipality? NO
Should another municipality have it? YES
It’s like everyone in a company having a say in every issue, it doesn’t work. Someone has to take the lead and point the way, and then take responsibility both when things go well and badly, at least in broad terms. Then you can select certain issues that the members can vote on. This is not done today when there is a detailed roadmap and a hell of a lot of backslappers who are to be rewarded.
The big mistake today is that everyone crowds in the middle and there is only one socialist party, V. All the others are different shades of red and look very similar up close. There is no real bourgeois alternative worth the name without it becoming crazy right-wing or bland center.
Medborgerlig Samling was on the right track with Ilan Sade but he didn’t reach out! How it is now I hardly know, as they have completely disappeared from the radar.
How S will manage it will be interesting, but I think it will become even more totalitarian if V and MP get to have a say.
Yes, that is exactly the problem I mean, you cannot just address individual issues without the overall context (and in the end, it’s very much about economics).
Do you want more prisons? Yes!
Should we finance that through higher taxes? No!
Should we finance that by reducing government spending? Yes!
Should we give healthcare less money? No!
Should we give the police less money? No!
Should we give the defense less money? No!
Should we give schools less money? No!
And so on.
Then maybe it doesn’t have to be one person or some leadership that controls everything with a firm hand, I think it could be about putting it together in a context and perhaps asking the questions in the right way.
If you express support for Medborgerlig Samling, you will be blocked by LW. That is as good a reason as any 🙂
Who cares what LW thinks? He says and writes whatever benefits him and his career.
The problem for L was that the polarization went straight through the party. Flip-flopping between right and left combined with internal conflicts is not very attractive to voters.
On that theme, related to “All parties should behave more maturely and talk about their visions, and what they plan to do if they win instead of throwing dirt at others,” I had a dream before the last election campaign about a debate format where you are not allowed to talk about other parties and their policies at all, but only about your own policies and corresponding thoughts and ideas. I still believe it would be a refreshing debate format where everyone’s ideas come forward instead of constant and endless whining and mudslinging (no matter how well-deserved the mudslinging may be).
Good dream! 👍
Hope someone who can make it happen reads this and makes it a reality!
But that becomes really boring!
It’s much more fun with influencers, schlager gays, and silly-stupid questions! That’s what everyone wants!
NOT!
Totally agree. Kvartal tries with party leaders plus one, but it easily ends up with the others looking stupid.

The District Court in Ystad has decided that the “shadow ship” Caffa shall be handed over to Ukraine, reports TV4 Nyheterna. The reason is a request from the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office, which is investigating whether the ship has been used to transport stolen grain from Russian-occupied territories.
In March, the ship – which had a predominantly Russian crew and was previously flagged in Russia – was boarded by Swedish authorities. Since then, it has been anchored in and outside the port of Trelleborg.

If UA is allowed to start negotiating EU membership, then RU has voluntarily driven them there, just like FI and SE to NATO.
That must give the bunker masturbator a serious anal itch!
What is there to negotiate?
The Russian bastards NEVER EVER keep their promises.
Ukraine can well demand membership first in that case, then when it is clear they will continue anyway and request help! 😀

Good good.
If Browder is now Putin’s worst enemy, it still sounds like he contributes to the Russian propaganda that tries to scare us into stopping support for Ukraine by talking about how Putin can be unpredictable and, for example, might decide to use nuclear weapons (or attack the Baltics). This may of course be correct in itself, but it is typically the kind of argument that Putin sympathizers like to use.
“Vladimir Putin is ‘more afraid than ever’ and therefore extra dangerous and unpredictable. This is the view of financier Bill Browder – who describes himself as Putin’s worst enemy outside Russia – in an analysis in The Independent.
‘Every time Putin has domestic political problems, he starts a war abroad. It has always worked, but it does not work now,’ writes Browder. He notes that Ukraine’s new long-range drones mean that the war affects the Russian people in a different way than previous wars, something that leads to Putin feeling powerless and thus potentially acting desperately.
Reuters’ Guy Faulconbridge visits Putin’s economic conference in Saint Petersburg and writes in an analysis that Putin is now faced with two conflicting internal demands: either to stop the costly war against Ukraine or to escalate the conflict against the West.”
https://omni.se/putins-varsta-fiende-nu-ar-han-radd-och-da-ar-han-som-farligast/a/y58LBr
Isn’t he the son of history’s greatest hater of Russians, his father?
I believe that Putin very well could launch a tactical nuclear weapon on Ukraine or attempt a meltdown in Enerhodar.
One should not underestimate a dictator’s last desperate move.
It doesn’t change anything in essence, and Ukraine already has dozens of cities that look like Hiroshima but more could come.
Well, as I wrote, he can be right in the matter but you want to avoid giving the Russia lovers fuel.
Well, I am sure that Putin himself sees nuclear weapons as a way out, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has already tried to give the order, but someone in the chain of command has stopped it.
There is probably someone in the chain who still has a certain sense of reality and sees that a nuclear attack means that Pandora’s box is opened also regarding retaliation against Russia.
Sure, the West would still hesitate to use nuclear weapons, there would be many long discussions in the closed rooms of the nuclear powers. The West would not be able to remain silent then, and it would certainly result in attacks with conventional weapons against military targets around Russia. Nuclear-armed submarines would be hunted, all known nuclear bunkers would be bombed. If Russia then retaliated with the nuclear weapons that are still usable, it would probably be game over. The Western world would emerge battered but victorious from the battle, while the Russian problem would be solved.
Ooh-woo through intermediaries. That’s how it will sound from various loose people paired with idiocies from their propaganda about nuclear torpedoes and their concrete block throwers Oresjnik.
Hopefully Ukraine will put a few dozen Flamingos right down in the Kronstadt base and a few dozen more in their shipping port in Leningrad while Tate and the other idiots are still there. Then they’ll have something sensible to talk about at their Davos for lunatics.
👍
Bill Browder has stood firmly on Ukraine’s side and I don’t think he is spreading the Russian devils’ propaganda. We and our leaders need to develop some backbone.
That the Russian devils can fire off KV in desperation only emphatically shows how important it is to stop the cancer in Moscow once and for all.
Have to admit that I don’t know him very well, but I just thought it smelled a bit like Russian scare tactics.
Domestic politics today apparently – perfect.
We have democracy and free elections where there is cheating on the margins.
Now it is an election year so all eight parties lie as much as they can.
The sitting government has the advantage of being able to deliver election pork – all governments always do that.
The sitting opposition has the advantage of being able to blacken the sitting government in pitch black – all opposition always does that.
—
No one wants to discuss things that I think are important,
Representative democracy on important issues that bring major changes, take a few big issues per parliamentary election that we get to vote on bindingly. The shutdown of the reactors, for example. We could have voted 2014-2018 instead of relying on a referendum from the 80s where the options were at what pace to shut them down. There was no option to keep them, right?
Privatization of schools, tax burden, security, EU, EUR.
A few other things where citizens actually get a voice instead of politicians who let themselves be bought with money and lobbying. The elected representatives work for the people.
Since we now know for sure that the fraud from our public sector is very large, I find it hard to see the logic that we need to raise taxes but understand that it is the easiest since laws are only for those who follow them.
The politicians have too much power and constantly mismanage, but the country manages because we have an enterprising population who, despite constantly being opposed, keep pushing forward.
We can also vote on the politicians’ salaries for the coming mandate period?
Buffett has a solution to the US budget deficit, if the federal government runs a deficit during a mandate period, no one in Congress can run for re-election.
Sweden has a very advantageous legacy where, by playing both sides with Germany during WW2, we managed to get a hell of a boost and beyond that the EU is better than us fighting each other even though it is starting to become an elite club.
But since the late 90s sometime, this legacy has been managed terribly by all parliamentary parties really, some bright spots excepted.
Now we are not heading towards that and will endure an election campaign but if you are a good person you try to find the most equal constellation to vote for – 50% men and 50% women.
Since I am passionate about Palestine, I have also thought that someone with a Palestinian background would be appropriate to prioritize. There I will probably vote like the entire Palestinian movement, it will be fun to nod in recognition to them on election day.
What I have learned from the S, MP and V mantras over the years would give me 100% goodness and I gladly want that – their confirmation that I am a good person who votes equally and takes a stand for Palestine 👍
You could run for V, I’ve heard they have many spots available right now.
Cannot vote for them – V, MP, S, C unfortunately have no equality at all.
Also, Nooshi is not Palestinian either.
To do as they demand, I unfortunately have to vote for the other team, but I don’t want to make a mistake.
I guess that not a single EU issue reaches the debate. This has been swept under the rug by all parties and has been so since membership. For example, expanding nuclear power in Europe (including Germany), a European defense – issues that parties campaign on to push in the EU. No, Sweden is still a sovereign neutral country, nothing has changed. Forget a Swedish initiative for an EU president and/or monarch.
Maybe I can become EU president?
Then you will damn well see changes, the fourth empire 💥💥💥
Seriousness and irony in a fine mix?
I was not looking for a party-political debate, more generally critical of politicians as such.
If you also want to be a good and honorable person, you know what you must vote for according to what we have learned over time, I am just trying to do right.
Well, I think I captured the general criticism of all of them pretty well?
It wasn’t directed at you at all, just jumped on the bandwagon 😀
👍
It is so hard to know if this is irony or meant seriously.
I had always assumed that on election day you only had to choose between SD and AfS.
For my part, it is between L and M this year. I have never voted for M before in a parliamentary election. This could be the year.

Någon som är sugen på karriärbyte?
** 🇺🇦 The Ministry of Defense plans to attract foreign recruits to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and pay them the highest salaries among military personnel in the world, — member of the parliamentary budget committee Kaptelov Such military personnel can be offered from $7 to $10 thousand per month.
An increase in the financial support for military personnel on the front line is also being discussed — up to 400+ thousand UAH with additional payments for participation in combat operations and destruction of equipment.
At the same time, the parliament admits that there is currently no clear understanding of the sources of financing such payments, and the initiative itself is at the concept level.”

Far too late but they should pay their own well first – 400,000 hryvnias is good.
They can start paying for Russian scalps or heads – 10,000 EUR and no quantity discount.
Maybe there hasn’t been the budget for it before?
Then, as you write, they must pay their own well first, otherwise it can become very strange.
Surely many realize that it can be worth quite a bit to get soldiers from outside, especially if the alternative is to mobilize younger Ukrainians.
Trump’s popularity numbers were not very high MXT.
What do you think he will do before the midterm elections – the pork barrel probably has to be sizzling for this to be able to turn around.
This one was interesting, doesn’t seem like there will be a tsunami of blue directly in the midterm elections?

Only two parties in the USA. Moving towards Putin’s Russia, with effectively one party? Still even between the parties in the USA though.
Guess it will be some kind of “Trump” check again where everyone gets a sum of money, that’s the kind of thing that goes down well there in the USA. Maybe that’s why he wanted to raise tariffs again to afford it.
The Senate will probably be tough, I remember there was speculation about it right after the election.
Not that many people are replaced and then it should preferably be replaced where there is a chance to win.
☘️What is it with Ireland 🇮🇪?

The same Russian-owned group that owns aluminum plants throughout Europe including Sundsvall. So Ireland seems to interpret the sanctions differently than Sweden, for example.
Ireland is a really shitty country!

Time for Ireland to clean up the Russian swamp! 😡
Clear sign that Putin is starting to feel pressured! ✊
But it could end in disaster; if Trump thinks Putin is compromising, he will demand that Ukraine do the same.
“Russia is willing to compromise to reach a peace agreement – if Ukraine does the same. That is what Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.
– Trump has asked Russia for compromises, and Russia is ready, Putin said according to Reuters.
According to Putin, Russia has every opportunity to achieve its military goals but is still willing to make peace.
At the same time, he acknowledges that Ukraine has managed to strike the oil terminal in St. Petersburg ahead of the international forum.
– We need to strengthen our air defense, he said according to AFP.”

Zelensky goes pretty hard at Putin, must be read! 😂
“Open Letter To the President of the Russian Federation From the President of Ukraine
When you came to power in Russia more than 26 years ago, many people in Ukraine viewed you positively. That is how it was. But that is now in the past.
Now, the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians view it positively that our long-range drones paid a visit to the opening of your forum in St. Petersburg, covering a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers. As you know very well, that distance is not the limit of our capabilities. …
You cannot fail to notice it. After 26 years in power, age is beginning to take its toll. And with time, the fatigue with you will only grow….”

Hah, perfect, Putin should know who holds the cards.
And Ukraine doesn’t have to compromise, it is their country that has been invaded. When the Russians go home, calm will also descend over Russia, and then the elite will eat each other up, while the people are terrorized by returning demoralized, alcoholic, brutalized soldiers with no hope for the future.
NO!
Just don’t let the EU be fooled by the Tsar and pressure Ukraine into an unfavorable deal.
The Russian bastards NEVER keep any agreements.
Really hope that Ukraine is not forced to back down, especially not now when things are starting to turn around!
So it was a Russian..
“In a large police operation that began on Thursday night, the maritime police seized a luxury motorboat in Båstad harbor, writes the local online newspaper Nu 7Dagar Bjäre. According to sources to SVT Nyheter, the boat’s owner is a Russian citizen.
– We suspect that the boat is financed with money coming from criminal activities, says Jimmy Modin, press spokesperson for the police in the South region, to the newspaper.
The boat, which is estimated to have a resale value of up to ten million kronor, was towed away by the Coast Guard’s vessel. Now it becomes a matter for the prosecutor whether the authorities will proceed and sell it. That the owner is a foreign citizen makes the process more complicated, according to public prosecutor Sofia Seijsing.
– We do not have the same possibilities to obtain the investigation from another country, she says to SVT.”

Off-Topic, EU and Africa are accelerating!
Perfect, maybe we will avoid Russian gas in Europe!
“Construction begins now: African gas to Europe
Algeria has started building the planned Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), which will transport natural gas from Nigeria via Niger to Algeria and onwards to Europe.
The pipeline is said to be able to export up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year to European markets. That corresponds to about 10 percent of the EU’s annual gas demand.
The project, first presented in 2009, has gained renewed relevance in the wake of the energy crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the sharply rising gas prices in 2022.
Algeria is already an important gas supplier to Europe and accounts for about 12 percent of the EU’s gas imports.”

That is probably good, so we become less dependent on both the USA and the Middle East.
