Russia launched its first comprehensive attack on Kyiv’s power grid, at least 4 killed and 8 injured – Russian losses etc.

Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure
Russia launched a large-scale attack last night on power grids and energy facilities, the first major mass attack since last autumn. At least 4 killed and 8 injured. The attacks were again mainly directed at Kyiv and the surrounding regions. The attacks lasted over 20 hours, one of the longest during the entire war. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the capital’s energy infrastructure was the main target of the Russian attacks.

Ukraine’s largest private energy company, DTEK, said that Russia’s nighttime attack damaged energy infrastructure and triggered power outages. The state grid operator Ukrenergo also reported power outages in Kyiv and Kyiv region as well as in other regions and urged the population to try to reduce electricity usage. The state-owned power producer Centrenergo confirmed that Russia’s attacks damaged the Trypilska thermal power plant in Kyiv region.

In addition to power outages, the attacks have forced emergency power shutdowns which have also affected tram traffic. Kyiv Independent.

Reminding and urging everyone who can to donate to Power Up Ukraine.

Sanctions against two Russian companies
The US has imposed sanctions on companies, organizations, and individuals involved in arms trade with Iran. Among those affected by the sanctions are two Russian companies. Although the sanctions were not intended to help Ukraine, it is of course positive from their perspective as well. Anything that affects Russia and Russians is positive. The sanctions also affect entities operating in Hong Kong, China, and Pakistan. Kyiv Independent.

Comment:
84 localized attacks out of a total of 209 leaves 125 unlocalized, giving a ratio of 125 / 84 ≈ 1.49.

A slightly lower number of drones again. Perhaps autumn weather with rain and fog is causing difficulties. Haven’t had time to check the weather reports.

    1. Soon all parties will be just like Russia with their red lines. 😄

We will see which one (or ones) will eventually be forced to back down.

    2. I get a feeling that there is a polarization going on in the country. The flanks with V-Mp and SD are strengthening and the center is weakening. That makes any government formation more difficult. Look at Berlin. Add a kingmaker party C that has red lines both to the left and to the right.
