  1. AFU reports:

    133 combat clashes
    90 aviation strikes
    239 KAB
    3 845 shelling o(40 from MLRS)
    8 071 kamikaze drones

Second highest so far in terms of suicide drones (8087 is the record) and also a high number of KAB.

  2. 🇺🇦Novopavlivskyi direction: The situation on the front is currently controlled. The enemy continues to attempt to pressure the approaches to the settlement, acting persistently, in waves, but without success. Our units are working proactively, detecting the enemy even on the approaches.

  3. “🇺🇦 Rökning i den snöiga skogen vid -15°. Dårarna trodde att gömma sig i de vita snårarna skulle rädda dem. De beräknade fel. Och sedan kom den hårda diskussionen, när granater flög in i skyddet – det blev plötsligt mycket “varmt” och “roligt” för dem där.”

  4. Off-Topic, Trump

“Donald Trump’s new tariff threat linked to Greenland is a sign of Europe’s weakness and inability to act. This is according to Marcel Fratzscher, who is the head of the German economic research institute DIW, as reported by Reuters.

He believes that Europe has “step by step given in” and let Trump have his way, instead of standing up for its own interests.

    – That mistake is now coming back to haunt us, says Fratzscher.

He adds that Trump will “continue to blackmail Europe until Europe shows backbone”.”

  5. Off-Topic, Trump

So Trump is planning to establish a “Board of Peace” where it costs one billion USD to participate.
Sounds suspiciously like the setup of paying protection money to the mafia.

“Donald Trump wants countries seeking a permanent seat on his new Board of Peace to pay at least 1 billion dollars, according to a draft of the statutes seen by Bloomberg.

Trump himself is to be chairman, decide on membership, and have a significant influence on decisions, agenda, and finances. Critics warn that the council could become an alternative to the UN.

The plans, which have been linked to the reconstruction of Gaza, have faced opposition from several countries, and European governments are said to be skeptical of Trump’s control over both power and money.”

    1. Can I guess that the most important thing is that you pay and that a princely share of that fee is then allocated to some “project” in Trump’s circle.

    2. That collection probably only has a few purposes.

      – To enrich Trump and his family, the membership fee is controlled by him.

      – To gather the authoritarian countries under one roof to avoid conflicts over spheres of interest, where Trump of course has the final say.

      – To gather the authoritarian countries for the common fight against the democratic and rule-based world.

This will of course become a mafia organization, an anti-UN where countries can buy security and greater influence from the USA (Trump), for example, support if they want to invade a democratic neighboring country.

  6. The number of confirmed deaths during the regime-critical protests in Iran has now exceeded 3,300, according to the human rights group HRANA as reported by The Hill. Nearly 4,400 cases are still under investigation.

In addition, over 2,100 seriously injured individuals have been identified. More than 24,000 people have been arrested.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei confirmed on Saturday that “thousands” of people have been killed.

  7. Decreasing number of attacks lately. At the same time, rumors of Russians gathering for larger offensives.

    • The CIA is inserting coordinates into Ukraine’s efforts to combat Russia’s war-sustaining infrastructure.
    • The buildup of troops in Greenland is causing Russia to react (more strongly than in the case of Venezuela and Iran).
      • Russian propaganda figure and editor-in-chief of pro-regime RT Margarita Simonya “Maria Zakharova on Greenland: There are neo-colonial plans to militarize the high latitudes and turn them into an arena of geopolitical confrontation. As a major Arctic power, this is of great concern to us.
    • India’s oil imports are decreasing due to American sanctions. There have been different messages/signals on the issue, but the latest report indicates a clear decrease:
India’s Russian crude buying just blinked.Imports fell 29% in December to the lowest since the price-cap era began. At least 12 tankers loaded with Russian crude are now waiting off the coast of Oman with nowhere to go.

    • Both Venezuela and Iran constitute/have constituted Russian bastions for influence in the world. Already during the Obama administration, Venezuela under Chávez was noted as a sponsor of international terrorism, and attention was drawn to the military cooperation with Iran, partly motivated by sanctions against Iran. Russia has been confirmed to sponsor the regime, both militarily and in building up the drug trade.
        • Under Hugo Chavez, Venezuela has become a hub in our region
for money laundering and transshipment of illicit goods. In
recent years, the relationship between drug trafficking and
terrorist organizations has become closely intertwined.
If you will notice up on the screen we have the definition
from the State Department of what a state sponsor of terrorism
is, and I will let you read that on your own.
It is widely acknowledged that terrorist groups have turned
to drug trafficking as a source of revenue.
And if we can put up the other slide. This slide
represents, in 2003, the drug trafficking flight patterns in
          Latin America.
Then if you will go to the next slide. This is what it
looks like in 2007. Unfortunately, we can’t show the slides
from today because those are still protected and classified.
But the difference between 2003 and this map is in 2005 Hugo
          Chavez kicked out our DEA.
As Chavez has provided Venezuela as a safe haven for these
narcoterrorists, the FARC, a drug trafficking and terrorist
organization who largely operates in remote sections of
Colombia, have long received assistance, relief, and material
support from Venezuelan authorities. And I think this is pretty
well documented. When Colombia took out Reyes and they took the
computers, Interpol was able to review those hard drives and
found significant cooperation with officials from Venezuela,
the Venezuelan government and the FARC. So clearly, if we go
back to the definition of state sponsor of terrorism, you can
check that box off, that there is a close tie and relationship
between terrorist organizations and the government in
          Venezuela.
        • Last year, RIA Novosti, the Russian international news
agency, reported that Russia, which signed a deal with Iran in
2007 to sell its five battalions of sophisticated air defense
systems, would abrogate the agreement due to the new U.N.
sanctions that now had been imposed against Iran. It is
believed that Russia may now sell the air defense systems to
          Venezuela–how convenient
who in turn could sell them to Iran.
    1. The Kremlin uses drugs to undermine the West, and its support for Ukraine, says a Swedish defense commander. The drugs come from South America.

“The statement by Swedish General Mikael Claesson indicates that Russia is expanding its arsenal of hybrid warfare against the West, employing not only military and cyberattacks but also control over illegal migration flows and narcotics routes. This demonstrates the systemic nature of Russia’s strategy, which spans multiple domains — from border security to societal stability. In this way, Moscow seeks to exert multidimensional pressure on European states.

Russia’s objective in this context is to destabilize Europe and weaken its ability to support Ukraine.
By using illegal migration and drug trafficking as tools of hybrid warfare, the Kremlin undermines internal security across the EU, forcing governments to divert resources away from supporting Kyiv. These pressures also generate additional social and political challenges for European administrations.”

But Johan, who at one moment thinks the West is doing far too little to counter Russia’s hybrid war against us, absolutely does not want the West to take action:

But today we will explain why Johan No.1 condemned Trump’s oil theft in Venezuela, but believes that an international violent and devastating bombing campaign against the dictatorship in Iran is highly justified.

President Donald Trump and his Pentagon chief say U.S. military strikes on suspected drug boats in waters off Latin America are saving lives by preventing narcotics from reaching America’s shores.

But drug cartels operating vessels in the Caribbean, where roughly 50% of the airstrikes have taken place, are mainly moving cocaine from South America to Europe — not to the United States, according to current and former U.S. law enforcement and military officials as well as narcotics experts.

Moscow’s “Greenland” Provocation: How Russia Raises the Political Cost of the U.S. Arctic Strategy

Dmitry Medvedev’s statements should be viewed as an instrument of information pressure designed to destabilize the U.S. position by imposing a toxic Greenland-related agenda on Washington. Russia is reframing the discourse surrounding America’s Arctic presence—shifting it away from security considerations into the realm of political scandal. This amplifies domestic polarization in the United States and places the administration before a dilemma: a tough response will be interpreted as escalation, while a soft response will be perceived as weakness.

In parallel, Moscow seeks to provoke disputes between the United States and its NATO allies (particularly Denmark), undermining trust in a region where critical U.S. capabilities for monitoring and controlling the North Atlantic are concentrated. Even without formal territorial claims, Russia achieves the strategic effect of managed uncertainty: it increases the political price of the American presence, tests Washington’s reaction patterns, and casts doubt on the legitimacy of U.S. decisions in the eyes of partners and local actors.

The modern Arctic is increasingly becoming a zone where strategic advantage is determined not by political declarations but by physical control over key nodes: sea approaches to the GIUK Gap (Greenland–Iceland–United Kingdom), logistical routes across the North Atlantic, and the functioning of early-warning systems and space-based monitoring. In this architecture, Greenland is a critical element enabling the United States and NATO to secure the northern flank, conduct missile and air reconnaissance, and maintain resilient communications in high latitudes.

    1. Once again, I managed to write a long post, and while I was writing, I got logged out, sigh.

Well, in short, it was about how Trump sometimes does things that benefit us, the people in other countries, and harm Russia, but it’s mostly just coincidences. He simply does the right things sometimes but for the wrong reasons. He didn’t go after Maduro because he was a jerk, but for the oil; he didn’t bomb Iran to protect the people, but because Netanyahu and the Christian right wanted it; now he hesitates because Israel is not currently threatened.

He doesn’t care about old agreements or international law.

The Greenland issue is a test of Europe’s and the EU’s cohesion. The Russians cheer as their main “asset” succeeds in one year with what they’ve been trying to do for 70 years: to divide NATO and Europe.

If we are divided, it will be open season for those with significant military power to seize. Trump could then threaten his way to agreements that give him everything and the other party nothing.

Now we must hope that he makes himself impossible domestically, so he gets impeached; it can’t be far off. Vance isn’t any better, but they might as well vote him out too if he turns out to be as crazy as Trump once he’s gone.

      1. Personally, I am affected by the fact that the comment button stops working, but not as often as before.

There is a saying – hate randomness.

        Coincidences, you say.

Starting with the examples in my previous post above, by chance Trump picked a significant leadership position in Venezuela for Russia. When he was actually going for oil. India happened to reduce its import of Russian oil (when Trump was supposed to sell his own oil?). Ukraine has received the coordinates on how to most effectively target oil refineries in Russia (again because Trump wants to sell his own oil, now including that from Venezuela).

Currently, American combat aircraft are moving closer to Iran. So, has Israel got a feeling again?

And all these American initiatives, not just in Venezuela, but also in Iran, India, Syria, Azerbaijan, and perhaps Armenia, are also part of a deal with Russia? Where not only the US’s “backyard” Venezuela is involved, but also several Russian neighboring countries, and not least domestic Russian oil production?

If one looks beyond the talk and what is actually happening on the ground, there are not many things that have actually gone Russia’s way. And this includes the events in which the USA is somehow involved. What is actually happening on the ground in Greenland is that troops are in place but not American. American troops are engaged elsewhere though. Especially now in Venezuela, Iran. Is the Baltic region a front we think is worth reinforcing? Despite the Russians’ involvement in Ukraine? If the answer is yes, given that Russia has built up a reserve with personnel and modern equipment, what says that this reserve cannot just as easily be used against Greenland? Together with Russia’s naval forces based in Murmansk and elsewhere in the Arctic? I assume as usual no one wants to answer the question since the prevailing theory is about “Krasnov,” the “demented orange,” the “Fanta-führer,” and others around whom everything is built on this site, and its sister site. It’s a bit like underestimating the Russians. In the latter case, Ukraine does not win because Putin is an imbecile and the Russians are idiots, but because the Ukrainians are smart. It is just as foolish to underestimate Trump. There is something in what Trump says about getting Europe to invest in defense. Because it is not enough for the USA to take all security policy responsibility with a China that has significantly strengthened its military capacity. Greenland has been a blank spot for which Europe has not taken any military responsibility. Until now. In that way, Trump’s actions have been smart from a security perspective. But it’s just chance that it turned out well for the West and badly for Russia.

        Again, hate randomness..

        1. Well, there are so many things that we do not know, so it is mostly speculation.

When it comes to Ukraine, it often seems that Trump has actually let himself be manipulated by Putin, we know from before that he has been impressed by him, and that he has always avoided pressuring him. After each conversation with him, he repeats Putin’s ideas.

Now we have the kidnapping of Maduro, and the seizure of Russian ships. We have bombings in Iran and Syria, yes, and as you wrote, oil tariffs, etc. All this is negative for Russia, their influence around the world is decreasing, which is good. The reason the USA got involved is economic, not humanitarian or to punish Russia, that’s just a positive side effect.

It was somewhat similar under Biden, but Trump started with a clean slate. It felt like Trump didn’t know anything about Ukraine or Russia, but talked to Putin, talked to Zelensky, formed an opinion that Putin is a decent man, Zelensky is trash. Putin speaks the truth, Zelensky lies. Ukraine started the war, Russia is the victim. And from that starting point, it was about getting Trump on the right side. Trump would never help anyone for free, and every weapon delivery from the USA is a form of pressure.

It may not be very likely that Trump is controlled by Russia, but it is crazy enough that their interests coincide. Both want to divide Europe, both lack respect for agreements and laws.

As someone wrote some time ago: Both want to revive their country’s greatness, neither has any connection to reality.

          1. Division of Europe is a page that has support in statements from, among others, JD Vance on issues related to domestic politics in various EU member states. If so, this coincides with interests from Russia. But the USA has also expressed an interest in a Europe that takes responsibility for its own security. Which requires cooperation and unity in Europe. A strong Europe benefits the USA in the economic and military power struggle with China, which can at least militarily get relief and focus its military on China. At times, it has seemed, especially during Trump’s second presidency, that there was a possibility of getting Russia on board against China, a reverse Kissinger, but that path has not played out well so far. Russia is stuck in China’s grip. The conclusion that Europe should stop leaning on the USA and adopt its own significant power position is, however, a result of Trump urging Europe to increase its military budgets within NATO since his first presidency. No other consequence can be expected. And as mentioned, this requires Europe to act united. This contradicts the idea that the USA wants to divide Europe. Perhaps the USA needs a strong and united Europe as China grows stronger and Russia continues to undermine the West?

        2. johanno.1337

I think it’s an oversimplification to believe that Trump controls everything the USA does. Rubio has his sights set on Cuba. There are still many in the administration who do not like Russia, it’s a circus where they try to get Trump’s ear. I find it less likely that Trump would pull off some gigantic masquerade and say when he resigns, “haha, I wanted you to vote for the Democrats now”. However, I can buy into a hypothesis where he wants Europe to buy a lot of weapons from the USA.

At the same time, every forum post is basically too short to describe this properly. But the thirst for power domestically is real, for example.
