Ukraine attacked a metallurgical plant near Novolipetsk in Russia during the night, causing a fire in the area and activating the Russian air defense. According to an investigation, the metallurgical plant supplies Russian defense companies that in turn produce air defense systems, drones, missiles, and other weapons, and the plant has therefore been sanctioned by Ukraine, while Canada and Australia have sanctioned the Russian billionaire Vladimir Lisin, who owns the plant.
Later in the night, the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, located in Tula Oblast, caught fire after being attacked again by Ukraine. It is still unclear how extensive the damage caused by the attack was. Kyiv Independent.
The phone call between Putin and Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finland’s President Alexander Stubb seems to have been a major failure. The meeting was planned to last an hour but took 90 minutes, partly because Putin spent time playing history teacher and apparently no sensible conclusions were reached.
Russian losses
There is something strange about the reporting of Russian losses, as for the second day in a row they are very low. 1510 KIA may not be so unusual in itself, but overall it is odd that we have no armored vehicles at all, no MLRS or air defense. Artillery has decreased recently. Maybe the weather is causing problems?
There are still 191 battles (see below).
- 1510 KIA
- 21 Artillery
- 1543 UAVs
- 7 UGVs
- 266 Vehicles and Fuel tanks
- 2 Cruise missiles

83 localized attacks out of a total of 191 leaves 108 unlocalized, resulting in a ratio of 108 / 83 ≈ 1.30.
Zelenskyy’s speech, etc.
Here you will find the latest of Zelenskyy’s speeches, where he talks, among other things, about the “Veles” operation that stopped the Russians’ advance in Kupyansk but also about the need for air defense and one can sense his frustration over all the delayed deliveries.
Translations of older speeches and interviews, etc., are ongoing and we are currently at day 290.

Ukraine intercepting more Russian Geran-4 jet-powered drones, General Staff says. Fighter jets, including F-16s, Mirage aircraft, and MiG-29s, play a significant role in intercepting Russian jet-powered drones, according to the General Staff.
Soon there will also be j39 in the frame. 👌 I guess this is quite an expensive way to hunt drones, but you use what you have.
Gripen 😍
Expensive but the alternative that they actually follow through is probably more expensive.
It’s unfortunate with Stubb and Störe, had hoped for more coordination from the EU.
At the same time, it’s probably good that Putte gets to talk with some who see reality as it is.
Difficult, but prioritizing coordination is my opinion.
Difficult also with the Russian temperament. It is always someone else’s fault. I am OK but you are not OK.
Therefore Krasnov loves Putin… A soulmate 😂
Well, Europe/EU has an agreement not to talk to Putin.
Even if that is not true, Putin now believes there is a rift among us and that Trump’s increased pressure has yielded results.
And he is even less interested in giving up the war.
We should keep quiet and provide more weapons.
Zelensky was quite diplomatic.
They can explain why, but it went very wrong at a time when mistakes kill children.
Got upset about that yesterday and then that the defense forces have run out of money and are canceling exercises.
The only light is that Ukraine has finally broken free and is fighting despite all attempts to stop them.
One inevitably becomes a bit conspiratorial. Isn’t it called hating coincidence?
“At least ten people have died after two high-speed trains collided in Spain. One of the trains derailed in connection with the accident, writes El País.
The accident occurred between Los Yébenes and Urda in the province of Toledo shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. One of the trains is said to have slowed down just a few minutes before the crash due to a traffic problem.
Train traffic has been canceled between Madrid and Andalusia, writes Reuters.”

”At least 39 people have died after two high-speed trains collided in Urda south of Toledo in Spain, local authorities told Sky News. Two train carriages are said to have derailed and fallen down a slope.
”I am appalled by the serious train accident in Toledo. My thoughts are with those affected and their families,” writes Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on X.
According to El País, early reports indicate that human error may be behind the accident. Train traffic between Madrid and Andalusia has been stopped.”

Ugh, terrible accident. I see that they are reporting 40 dead now.
Spain has been hard hit by train accidents. Santiago de Compostela was probably the worst. Then came the accident where the driver did not notice that the “ATC” had stopped. A death trap and a missed warning. I don’t think the driver was blamed there. On the same track as today, several people died when a couple of carriages at the end of the train derailed and crossed over onto the other track. An oncoming train collided with the carriages. That was a rail break. In addition to these, the forces of nature have caused several accidents with fatal outcomes.

Off topic as much as it can get but
quite a fun article in DN today about what can happen with connected devices.
“When the invoice from Telenor landed at the Slottsbrinken’s lake water association in Mariefred, the members couldn’t believe their eyes.
It (read: the invoice from Telenor) was for 1.4 million kronor and concerned 2.2 million SMS messages. They had been sent between two of the association’s water pumps.
– Crazy, we thought at first. Then Telenor sent over a specification. It was 32,000 pages long, says Ludvig af Klinteberg, the association’s chairman.”
Look at that, wow!
“Hi, here we come with the invoice, where should we put it?”
“Put it? Just put it on the desk.”
“Hmm, nah. That probably won’t work, it’s a whole pallet and we probably can’t even get the forklift in here in the office.”
China’s real estate bubble has been deflating for quite some time and now their stock markets are falling.
Right time to introduce an export ban against China from the EU.
If they get occupied with their own problems, it would do a lot of good for us.
The USA will probably manage to export the sourdough as usual, but if Europe can avoid another 2008, it would be appreciated.
The Chinese stock markets have undeniably experienced a sharp decline during the summer/autumn. The tech- and AI-heavy STAR50 index has fallen by around 40 percent in less than four months, and the broader CSI 300 index has officially entered a bear market after a historically long streak of declines.

One of Russia’s lesser-known but significant sources of export income comes from timber.
The Chinese real estate crisis has in recent years caused those incomes to decrease significantly for the Russians.

Maybe that’s why RU is lobbying so hard against the USA right now?

Burnham is interesting, he has a domestic policy that weakens him but at the same time he goes hard against Russia.
Don’t know him as a person at all but it seems like he is trying to balance two sides in the administration/government?
Until the SS against targets in Russia, no country has really approved it and in terms of escalation against Russia it is equivalent to slapping a white glove in the face. Moreover, it seems to hurt so much that the Russians keep quiet which is a sign that they are worried.
The UK is also vulnerable to revenge from Trump so going hard against Russia is a way to show integrity. The other option is of course that the defense is running a solo race and he hasn’t quite understood it yet but I believe he has approved the escalation.
Burnham is on the bubble list of a strong politician.

Here they complain about high electricity prices. I think we should be glad that we even have electricity that we can pay for to get…
Yes, I usually complain about the electricity prices, but this year and maybe one more year, we just have to bite the bullet.
A couple of sabotages will probably come in late autumn that will also drive prices up, but if we are at war, then we are.
Well, we are probably a bit spoiled. It doesn’t take more than a cold winter and some transformer “happens to burn” or some sea cable suddenly happens to break, and then there can be problems.
We have firewood and a tiled stove, but a generator might be good to have.
