Thank you MXT, today it really hits hard. Barbarian attacks ending violently or Ukrainian attacks against unprotected infantry or both?
I vote for both oaks, that should cause the biggest Russian losses! 😄

NATO 🇯🇵 🇺🇦 Japan deploys personnel to NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (ENG below)
У🇺🇦 🇺🇦 🇺🇦
On Friday (29 May 2026), Japan finalised its contribution of personnel to the command in Germany responsible for NATO’s Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU).
NSATU continues to provide essential support to Ukraine, through its coordination of the delivery of equipment and training to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Japan’s contribution to NSATU is yet another demonstration of the continued consolidation of its long-standing partnership with NATO. As well as the joint work in support to Ukraine, NATO and Japan’s cooperation includes cyber defence, technology and innovation, maritime security, and defence industrial cooperation.
The partnership also reflects the close linkage between Euro-Atlantic security and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Very pleasing 👍🏻.

This is like if the Customs Agency were to station themselves at the Öresund Bridge and spontaneously blow up cars with rocket-propelled grenades, and if anyone asked what the hell they were doing, they could just shrug and say “They were smuggling drugs!” and everyone would be satisfied with that.
Completely without presenting evidence, the US kills the crews. They don’t even bother trying to stop them and check the cargo. The penalty in the US for smuggling larger amounts of drugs is around 10 years and up to life imprisonment. Here, they hand out the death penalty without even knowing if they really smuggled anything.
This is allowed to continue simply because it is the US, and no one seriously dares to speak out against it.
Completely insane.
“Three people were killed when the US military last night struck a designated drug boat, writes AFP. In a video clip published by the military on X, the boat can be seen being hit and catching fire. According to the post, the boat was traveling along a ‘known drug smuggling route.’
The death toll from the US attacks on ships alleged to be smuggling drugs has now reached 198 people since September.
The attacks have been criticized both by human rights groups and politically, and no definitive evidence that the ships have actually been used for smuggling has been presented.”

I can only agree with you, it’s completely crazy that the USA can do this without anyone seeming to care except the remaining families…..
👍🏻
Heads will rightly roll later on, and then it won’t do to say “I was just following orders.”
Well, it is probably crazy, no other country would be allowed to behave this way without getting scolded by all the other nations. The USA has, of course, always acted arbitrarily when they referred to “national security,” but Trump has probably taken it to new heights by arbitrarily bombing boats that happen to be in the wrong place.
And then we have the total blockade of Cuba, two hours of electricity a day is not enough to keep a “modern” society running. I think there is more suffering there than what has been reported in the media.

New Russian push in the ongoing offensive for just over a week, an interpretation of the seven-day period above. At the same time, the recently likely Ukrainian unlocalized attacks have also increased, and the ratio is approaching 1 again (0.93), i.e., soon at least as many Ukrainian as Russian attacks. Presumably, this concerns different fronts where the Russian is concentrated in Donetsk: Konstantinivka, Pokrovsk, and Huliaipole. Meanwhile, we have been able to follow “rumors” of Ukrainian clearances and recaptures of terrain rumored on defense Twitter in partly other areas.

Yes, the fact that it is a defense cooperation has not really spread. I assume that we are now going in-depth into drone technology and tactics.

One of Ukraine’s most famous combat pilots, Major Vadym Voroshylov, who goes by the call sign “Karaya,” is already in full training on the Gripen. His flights with the Swedish aircraft have made a very strong impression on him, which, considering that he has flown countless combat missions during the war with the MiG-29 (the one he is flying in the clip) and has also flown the F-16, says quite a lot. 🇺🇦🇸🇪

Yes, it’s probably like going from a work vehicle to a Ferrari (as Peter Lindén roughly said).
The Munich airport has been closed since drones were reportedly observed in the area, reports Focus online. According to the newspaper, helicopters are searching for the drone. The situation is described as “unclear.” According to AFP, there is no forecast for when the airport can reopen.

Any MÖP who can explain where on the map Ben Hodges makes the forecast that 110,000 Russians in eastern UA are about to end up in “operational encirclement” and that the Russians can’t do anything about it? He is talking about an upcoming collapse!!!
Exciting regardless. Although difficult for an ordinary mortal to just listen to his convincing “lecture” – without pictures.

Unfortunately, it is fake. Someone who wants to make money off Ben’s good reputation. So BAD of Alphabet to allow AI-generated impersonation of people.
Thank you, Per!
Easy to be fooled, apparently.
Is there any truth at all in the analysis?
Technological advantage has historically lasted half a year or longer if it is a “market economy”.
FAB dominance is because the USA has slowed down advanced aircraft.
RU fab dominance is now on its way out.
UA drone superiority will probably lead China to try to provide anti-drone capability, but it must be sent, trained on, and integrated into the organization.
Double bad for Putin thus.
3.5:1 loss ratio for RU.
Outclassed in both offense and defense.
Strategic bombing stings.
No one can stop UA with words anymore.
—
Until spring, UA will be able to dominate and the summer has only just begun.
If one may guess, Putin will increase the level of violence until it crashes – per history.
—
Kaliningrad has a strong freedom movement, the old city is westward orienting, Belarus is inside UA and manipulating, and republics in RU are beginning to move – UA will never stop if the opportunity arises.
—
Looks good, the same advantage as autumn 2022 but no one who can slow this down this time as far as I can see.
The average Ukrainian is beginning to get a blood scent and that will take them far.

Do you see anything other than this?
The Saturday before Pentecost two years ago. Fishing mackerel in a small boat in Laholmsbukten. Perhaps the finest day of 2024?
From inside the city, a formation of 7-9 Gripen jets came heading towards Ängelholm. One does wonder why the military does this on a Pentecost Saturday evening? Checked when I got home. No exercises. The Swedish Defence University’s graduation day had passed… it must have been something else.
Ah, I thought, now the first Ukrainians have started their first training as ground personnel at FMTS. A demonstration in honor of the Ukrainians. I think that theory holds.
In October/November last year, a lot of Gripen activity around the airport. Even a signals intelligence plane showed up.
Where did these planes go? Well, one thinks…
Gripen is already in Ukraine and living its best life there.
That would have been something! But you should never say never, and it has been quite a while since there was talk about training for Ukrainian pilots…..
I have not been able to write and thank Johan no 1, 205, MXT and everyone else here who gives me information about the war. I usually write poorly, but now I have suffered a broken bone in my shoulder. A disaster for me as I struggle along. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Nice that you are back but sorry to hear about the shoulder. Hope it heals as it should without complications.
Have a nice weekend!
Interesting, yes maybe they are already in place, at least I hope that the training of pilots and others has been ongoing since then.
The USA plans to withdraw troops from European countries faster than previously known, according to an American source cited by the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
Earlier in May, the Pentagon announced that 5,000 American soldiers will leave Germany within six to twelve months. The newspaper’s article does not specify how much faster this will happen or which bases are affected.
The plan is to be presented to NATO allies next month, according to the source.

”AI drones sabotage Russian logistics: ‘Hunting zone’

Ukrainian AI drones have begun to be used in the war. But not at the front – rather far behind Russia’s lines. “You program a hunting zone for them,” says Lieutenant Colonel Johan Huovinen.

A new type of drone is sabotaging Russian logistics far behind the front. Among pro-Russian war bloggers on Telegram, there has now been talk of a shift.
After the short ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine over Victory Day on May 9, Ukraine began introducing the AI-assisted medium-range drones “Hornets” en masse.
“The situation in the southern regions has become increasingly dangerous… At present, it is a pure lottery to travel near the front, and there are no longer any rear regions.” This is written by the account Rybar, a pro-Russian war blogger with 1.5 million followers on Telegram.
At the same time, a long series of clips from the Ukrainian military and other accounts have circulated showing attacks on trucks along highways in the Russian-occupied regions of southern Ukraine. The BBC has been able to verify at least 14 cases where Russian transports have been attacked in recent weeks. But analysts they have spoken with estimate that it likely involves several hundred destroyed vehicles.

– This is a completely new capability for Ukraine. I would call them medium-range drones. Previously, very short-range small drones were mainly used. These look more like small airplanes. They can fly faster and farther, says Johan Huovinen, lieutenant colonel and military instructor at the Swedish Defence University.
Targeted at important logistics corridors
The attacks are aimed at Russia’s major logistics corridors as far as 150 kilometers behind the front lines. Especially the motorways that run from Russia to occupied Mariupol and further west towards the Crimean Peninsula or north towards Donetsk. According to a military expert the BBC has spoken to, some Russian brigades are estimated to need up to 1,000 tons of supplies, fuel, and ammunition every day.
For the Russian units at Russia’s front in southern Ukraine and on the occupied Crimean Peninsula, these transport routes are therefore crucial.
– The effect will be that it may become difficult for Russia to defend its positions around the Kherson region. So this is about breaking down and slowly strangling the Russian defense capability in the area over the next three to six months, says Huovinen.

That Ukraine has started using these new AI drones precisely in this area is no coincidence either, says Huovinen, who himself has traveled on the relevant roads before the large-scale invasion began.
– I believe they have focused on this terrain between Mariupol and Crimea because it is a completely open landscape. I have driven there myself and it looks roughly like when you drive between Helsingborg and Malmö.
– There is nowhere to take cover behind, and it then becomes very easy to combat these military transports, he says.
AI can identify targets
The Hornet drones are the result of an AI system that can identify and attack targets on its own. During the four years the war has been ongoing, the AI has been trained to identify Russian military targets such as vehicles.
Ukraine can send the drone in a direction towards an area and then it finds a target itself that it can dive towards to explode itself.
– You could say that you program a hunting zone for them, says Huovinen.
He emphasizes that this is a big step for Ukraine as it is significantly safer for the Ukrainian operator who is to launch the drone. It becomes much harder for Russia to shoot back when the range increases from the FPV drones’ maximum 30 kilometers to the Hornets’ 150 kilometers.
A prerequisite for this to work is that they connect to satellite networks like the American Starlink, which makes it harder for Russia to jam their signals.
But are these drones cheap enough to be acquired and implemented in such large volumes that they can actually have an effect on the war?
– It looks like it, at least so far, says Huovinen.
He stresses that the price tag is probably significantly higher than the usual “small drones,” where the simpler variants can cost around 3,000 kronor each for the Ukrainian state.
– If you then want a camera that is AI-related, of course it becomes expensive. Now I’m speculating, but if I had to guess, a reasonable cost for Hornets might be 30 to 40 thousand kronor each.
Screenshot from the drone’s own camera.

– But considering that Ukraine got access to these 970 billion kronor from the EU, the Ukrainian state will surely buy these to a greater extent now that it has been quite successful, says Huovinen.
But if the Ukrainian side has access to drones with AI capability, does the Russian military also have them?
– Russia has a similar drone called Lancet. They used it especially in 2023 and 2024 but today it is seen very rarely. I don’t know why, whether it is due to lack of technical parts or if they have chosen to focus on the cheaper Shahed drones instead, says Huovinen.”
