I was watching short videos of life at the front yesterday and it’s hard not to think that this war has gone on for too long, many seem to have crossed the line of what is manageable in civilian life after the war – it has simply lasted too long and been too intense. The country Ukraine will have a traumatized population to take care of after this war and that is no easy task.
It’s hard to grasp the extent of Russia’s war crimes really, they have really made an extra effort to murder even as young as one-year-old children in the most atrocious ways and if given the chance they will continue until half the country is emptied. There is no lack of evidence that they had plans to ethnically cleanse conquered areas.
There has been some concern that the war would start to normalize and be forgotten – you know, that staring Ukrainian guy in the lunchroom, but now the pre-talk before the Ramstein meeting is shaping up and Stålålen clarified things thoroughly yesterday – all honor to the one-eyed.
Moreover, things are starting to stir at the fronts now in a way they haven’t for months, there is movement in the undergrowth.
UA has used tanks for direct fire at distances of 4-5 km to a large extent. We discussed a lot whether they would go first in the breakthrough or provide support, and clearly UA has used them very cautiously but effectively. I also think it’s a reasonable doctrinal adjustment that they lie and act as snipers at max range that RU counterparts cannot manage and beyond the immediate drone umbrella. If they fire a couple of shots and regroup, there is no artillery in the turret either.
Yesterday the heavy legend Erik14 posted about a tank duel between T55 and Leo2 at Novoprokopivka where apparently it was a shooting range and grilled Russian tanks.
A good deal of the advances probably also happen at night but with good night combat equipment you also get an edge during the day at long distances, instead of barely seeing a camouflaged tank it glows bright red.
That Ukraine is now charging into the flank at Novoprokopivka is nothing less than sensational – there are supposed to be 7 units in the area at regiment size, of which 3 are VDV, and it is a fortified place.
Now Senhor also posted a heavy complaint from the VDV in that area – they are starting to feel that the war is no longer fun and that’s good.
Kopani and Verbove are living dangerously now and then it’s forward towards Azov. The southern front commander understands this too and he has already weakened at the Dnipro front and Staromaiorske but it’s not enough.
The race against the clock is currently in UA’s favor – absolute legends.
At the southern front it is reasonably passable ground until sometime in November if we are to go by last year and besides it’s a special year so maybe it will be a dry autumn?
And there will be no offensive reserves on this side of Christmas.
Right now there is movement everywhere and RU has also lost the initiative up in northern Luhansk.
If you thought Opytne was sensational, it’s nothing compared to what Novoprokopivka is – UA is going for a full frontal attack and the defense is folding.
They have managed time versus advance excellently.
If Kopani – Novoprokopivka – Verbove fall, the entire Russian defense in that area has been defeated in battle and the only thing defending the next line are burnt-out brigades, battalions, and regiments low on ammunition.
You get a very broad breakthrough with dominant anchor points on the flanks that protect the breakthrough and continued offensive towards Azov.
You are then up on the “middle” attack vector – the one in dominant terrain.
It is absolutely insane that Leo2 with its excellent aiming devices stands and knocks out all the T55 and T62 they can find among these thousands of units in the area.
The imperialist Russian army, red storm and all that, fights with WWII weapons against a qualified mechanized opponent.
Can this war just end already, it’s directly embarrassing for the Russian self-image and no, T55 or T62 did not work well at all as infantry fighting vehicles in defense – they are just knocked out from 3-4 km as the thread guessed.
Take a look at Oryx at the number of knocked-out T62s, like weeds in a garden before the elderly couple next door dares to show themselves after winter and puts the spade in the ground.
And if that wasn’t enough to raise the positive meter a couple of notches, UA is fighting along the entire Staromaiorske line right now out to Vuhledar as far as I have gathered.
-They have retaken terrain in the Kreminna forests.
-And it’s advancing at Klischiivka.
-At all fronts UA has some kind of offensive operation and RU is completely on the defensive.
At Robotyne if you believe the Twitter gods, the 1430th regiment took existential hits in a few days and now the next one has a life span like a mayfly – the 1152nd.
-810th Marine Infantry has taken a heavy beating.
-At least one regiment of the 76GAAD has taken heavy losses.
-2 of the BARS units have been withdrawn with colossal losses.
-70th brigade had previously high losses.
-22nd Spetznaz has fought in the area throughout the spring offensive and should be decimated.
Other units have surely taken heavy losses during months of counterattacks.
-when you count like this you realize there is not much defense left in the area…
According to earlier, it’s the same RU units left around Staromaiorske that previously took enormous losses. They seem to have deprioritized that front section?
Seems like a couple of new units have appeared but many are recognized from months of fruitless counterattacks.
Same up in Bakhmut – a whole bunch of brigades have taken existential losses earlier.
“number game” or maybe one should be a bit more professional and call it war of attrition probably works excellently if you dive deep into this and according to the above I think UA has got the timing completely right that they manage to reach breakthrough before RU strategic reserves are in place – it looks that way.
That does not diminish the enormous losses now being taken but at least it leads to the area behind the southern front being retaken and that the countdown can begin – when UA reaches Azov it is likely war-deciding.
By the way, instructions just came on WhatsApp and the mission is supposed to take around two weeks. The old guy is probably back earlier and if he pretends nothing happened you know it crashed totally, Budanov is getting used to it and is quite happy if own losses are not in the tens but just some crashed train or big boat. So there will be radio silence again and just like last time when he was gone and the Wagner coup happened – everything will happen in the coming weeks 😀
