  1. Fiftieth birthday party yesterday.
Thought it would be a quiet affair but it ended up with leaving the car and I’m probably still not sober.

  2. 🇱🇹 Lithuania has installed “dragon’s teeth” at the border with the Russian Federation and Belarus.

The border was reinforced at 4 non-functioning border checkpoints with Belarus and one with the Russian Federation. Fortifications have also been built in certain other areas.

✍️ This decision is part of a long-term plan of measures that will reduce the possibility of military equipment entering Lithuania’s territory from Belarus and Russia.

  4. “The murdered Ukrainian top politician Andriy Parubiy was deeply hated in Moscow, and if the rumors that Russian agents are behind the murder are true, it is bad news for Ukraine, notes VG’s Ole Kristian Strøm in an analysis. “This means that they are operating freely in Ukrainian-controlled territory and that they are very confident,” he writes. …”

    1. Yes, even though for example Sweden recently discovered agents in high positions in Swedish authorities, it was believed/hoped that with the war there would also be a proper identification of individuals in the wrong place. But it can be difficult.

  5. Great!

However, another example of something we have been saying all along that suddenly, just over a couple of years later, is starting to become a reality. Imagine if Europe’s leaders had listened to us from the beginning. What we keep nagging about usually becomes reality in the end, but far too late.

“So far, the EU has only used the interest from seized Russian state assets, but now the commission is looking more actively at how the assets themselves of 200 billion euros can be used. TT reports. Among other things, the Nordic and Baltic countries want to give the money to Ukraine, while others are concerned that it could damage trust in Europe and the global position of the euro. …”

    1. Yuck, boring!

The page shouldn’t normally be able to reload itself without triggering something, but I have experienced it myself after we inserted the ads, it seems like Google’s ad management can do a little as it pleases. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It has also happened to me that I clicked on, for example, B in the editor to mark bold style and then suddenly an ad pops up.

      1. Yes, one must secure oneself at regular intervals. But it’s OK for the most part. In this case, an unusually long thread. Up to 32 and still not complete..

        1. Whenever I write longer posts, I first draft it in regular notes so I can save everything as I go (also, interruptions can happen, and I might need to continue later). Only when I’m done do I copy and paste it in.

  6. Sounds good. Best to start right away now that Russia has lost much of its military strength in Ukraine. They probably can barely gather people for their Zapad soon.

  7. Off-Topic

“Angelica Katsanidou, the chairman of the regional board in Kalmar County, has been to a congress party, had dinners, and let the taxpayers pay the bill, writes Dagens Nyheter, who has seen receipts and invoices. In total, it has cost around 13,342 SEK. At the same time, she received full per diem during the congress. …”

  8. “🥴🤡Ungern kommer inte att tillåta att “Ukraina pressas in i EU” eftersom det skulle förstöra ungerska bönder, ungersk livsmedelssäkerhet och “tillåta den ukrainska maffian att infiltrera Ungern” – Utrikesminister Szijjártó”

    1. ⛓️ A little American whip helps – did such a one crack in the air during the visit of the European leaders to Trump in Washington together with Zelensky the other week?

  9. “A major fire has broken out at a chemical plant in Balashikha, near Moscow. The blaze spread to nearby buildings, sending thick black smoke over the city. Locals report a strong smell of burning in the air.”

  10. Putin and Xi have something sly going on.

I don’t know where this myth about the Russian offensive being over comes from?

I think it looks like RU still has more gas left.

But Ukraine also has it, it’s just that they can’t burn that powder and fail once again so they are probably waiting for the right moment maybe?

Have you seen how the Russian subversive activity has spiked like a spear in the past month?

  11. Venezuela is a bit exciting, China is there with all possible equipment and Russia too, or China through Russia who knows.

USA’s backyard and the American navy are in the area.

What happened to peace in our time?

    1. They have probably bought a lot of Russian military equipment and also had joint exercises, etc. China, on the other hand, buys oil and has invested in infrastructure, etc.

Both countries have contributed financially, for example, by lending money.

So both have their fingers in the “cookie jar” but in slightly different ways.

I think the thing about drugs and crime is a pretext from the USA, they probably actually want to stop China’s and Russia’s influence before it’s too late and maybe spreads to other countries as well.

  12. “Report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. First and foremost, about the Pokrovsk direction, where the Russian army is concentrating its greatest efforts and, accordingly, suffering the heaviest losses. Our units continue to carry out their assigned tasks in the Donetsk region and methodically destroy the occupier. Across the front, in just the first eight months of this year, the Russians have lost more than 290,000 soldiers killed and severely wounded. The majority of these losses were sustained precisely in the Donetsk region, while failing to achieve any of their strategic objectives. On certain sectors of the front, our stabilization measures are currently underway. I am grateful to every unit that ensures the replenishment of Ukraine’s “exchange fund” – every week there are corresponding results. Thank you!

We analyzed in detail the situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction and the enemy’s intentions. Also the situation in the border areas of the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. We will continue our active operations in exactly the way needed for Ukraine’s defense. The forces and resources are prepared. New deep strikes have also been planned.

Following the results of combat operations this week, I would like to commend the 1st, 33rd, 225th, and 425th Assault Regiments; the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades; the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade; the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade; the 14th Rapid Response Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine; and the Special Operations Forces units. Thank you all, warriors! Glory to Ukraine!”

  14. “💬 “We have to keep this sense of urgency because we know that Putin has not changed and will not change. He is a predator,” says European Comission President von der Leyen during a press conference with Polish PM Tusk near Poland-Belarus border.”

  15. “Analysis: Trump may have arranged a new bromance

For China’s President Xi Jinping, the summit with Russia’s Vladimir Putin and India’s Narendra Modi is about something as ambitious as pushing for a new world order. This is written by Ole Kristian Strøm for the Norwegian VG. ‘He wants to show that Trump’s attempts to outmaneuver China, India, and Russia have not succeeded.’ For the sanction-burdened Putin, it becomes an opportunity for a bit of geopolitical stardom. Modi is likely to swallow his pride and patch up the relationship with China after Trump’s attempts to dictate India’s trade – we may see a new bromance between Xi and Modi, writes Strøm. Neville Lazarus at Sky News is on the same track – Trump’s treatment of Modi has driven him into the arms of Xi and Putin, he writes.”

    1. Trump, like Putin, is so filled with his own imagined superiority that they do not see that through their own actions they are working against what they actually want to achieve. Putin managed to get Fi and Se into NATO, and now Trump is functioning as a matchmaker between Xi and Modi.

  16. The use of spies and intelligence agents by foreign powers has changed form, which poses new challenges for, among others, Sweden’s counterintelligence. This is stated by two former employees of Säpo to SvD. Russia’s intelligence service has changed tactics, and the new setup resembles the system in the new gig economy, the newspaper writes. Individuals can receive temporary assignments, often online, and are called “one-time spies” or “disposable agents”. – If we do not change our tactics, we will lose, says Petter Larsson, who has worked with person-based intelligence gathering for Säpo. …

  17. “Houthi rebels have carried out raids against offices belonging to the UN’s World Food Program WFP and Unicef in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Sunday, reports AP. At least one employee is said to have been arrested by the movement. The UN is also said to have lost contact with several employees. WFP’s spokesperson Abeer Etefa says it is unacceptable for humanitarian personnel to be detained on arbitrary grounds. Following an attack by Israel that killed the group’s prime minister Ahmed al-Rahawi, stricter security controls have been implemented in Sanaa.”
