Local residents in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk reported explosions in connection with a Ukrainian drone attack on the oil terminal, which also caused damage to a residential building. The most intense fire is reported to be at the first pier of the terminals, but the second one is also damaged. The damage to the residential building is said to have been caused by drone debris. France and the United Kingdom have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the successor to the Meteor missile. But Sweden could also join, writes DI.
Minister of Defense Pål Jonson (M) “does not rule out” that Sweden could participate in the one-year long study collaboration and states that they have “had a dialogue” with both France and the United Kingdom.
– I have spoken with both the French and British ministers, he says, adding that Meteor has “served us well”.

Quite bad to not have a backup system, if it’s only the power that is the issue.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accuses Ukraine of the alleged sabotage attempt against the gas pipeline supplying the country with Russian gas. Russia says the same thing. But Ukraine has nothing to do with it, responds the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Heorhij Tychyj on X.
“Most likely a Russian false flag operation as part of Moscow’s extensive involvement in the Hungarian election.”
The sabotage attempt only benefits Orbán and his party Fidesz. For a possible attacker, the timing would be very peculiar, says security policy expert András Rácz at the think tank DGAP to Hungarian HVG.
– If they communicate that the explosives are of Ukrainian origin, it could pave the way for the Hungarian government to introduce extraordinary measures before the election.
He will probably disappear with a little luck
“USA, Iran, and a group of regional mediators are now discussing terms in a last-minute attempt to reach an agreement on a 45-day ceasefire that could pave the way for a permanent end to the war. This information is provided by four American, Israeli, and regional sources to Axios.
The negotiations are seen as a final effort to avoid a significant escalation. However, the chances of reaching a settlement within the next 48 hours – even temporarily – are considered small, according to the newspaper’s information.
The negotiations are taking place through Pakistani, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators, as well as through text messages between Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
On Sunday, Donald Trump stated that the USA is “in deep negotiations” with Iran and that an agreement could be reached before the deadline, which was extended by one day over the weekend, expires on Tuesday.”

Great that they have at least reached the planning phase, maybe production will be underway in four to five years! 😄
🤣🤣🤣
Do not forget the implementation phase.
When they were building nuclear power plants, they realized well into the construction that it would be possible to evacuate people with stretchers from all 3000 rooms of the nuclear power plant. In some rooms, there was only a hatch and a ladder down because one would only need to go down there and inspect once a year. Result: enormous delays and cost overruns.
So 4-5 years can be optimistic

Cafe in Lisbon and waiting for the others to register some document, nice weather, sun and around 20 degrees, how is spring in Sweden, are you starting to get tanned and running around in sandals.
RU shoots fewer long-range aircraft than Ukraine in the past weeks – do you think that will change?
I think we have reached a tipping point 😀
RU also fights against housing and loses 85% of the fired shots in the LV fire, while Ukraine exclusively fights against military targets and achieves more success – a big difference in impact on the target and which targets.
Before Novorossiysk, it was said that 40% of the oil exports were knocked out and in the Baltic Sea there was at least triple combat?
Ukraine has also sunk the ships from the shadow fleet that were most manned with specialists and then it may be assumed that they were perhaps decoy platforms?
– don’t know and guessing.
You are following the fronts, Hola Prystan and Kinburn Spit – we all know why 😍😍
and then Rodynske – completely crazy.
RU’s offensive will continue, CAA chiefs have their orders and will attack. Some will probably convey upwards (those who dare) that they are taking sky-high losses and you all know the answer they will get – “step up the gas and double the attacks or else it will be a war crime.”
At some point, UA counteroffensive will come in their sector, they do not have tangible reserves and higher-ups will be slow to act, several army chiefs will keep quiet and hope they can solve the situation themselves out of fear of war crimes until it’s too late.
Then when it spreads to several CAA, higher-ups will get acute decision anxiety and then the army chiefs will have to try their best to sort out the situation when no one higher up in the chain of command responds.
They are their own worst enemy even this year.
We could have had this in 2022 and 2023 but UA was hindered by their friends and the time from autumn 2023 until now they have needed to get organized and then wait for favorable terrain.
China cannot support with less than sending their own or NK troops to the fronts but that probably takes too long, and above all, China probably doesn’t dare to send their own troops.
They cannot quickly increase their capability in drone weapons but maybe they can provide more long-range weapons?
– you don’t win wars with that!
Iran is already gone as RU support.
Europe needs to support Ukraine in words and actions – hopefully we are there now?
Above all, Ukraine has stopped taking orders from us and especially the USA.
They continue to bomb away the oil exports despite pressure from the USA and Europe. This means
Snow mixed with rain doesn’t exactly give you a sunburn, but shouldn’t complain, at least avoided the storm and power outages.
China is an uncertain factor, has always been, but so far they have mostly been content with delivering equipment even if they also sent some Chinese people too but it was never clarified whether they participated in battles or were just observers.
North Korea seems to have calmed down a bit, maybe didn’t find it so fun to have their soldiers killed. However, they surely still send ammunition and artillery. Then surely China supports NK with their weapons production so they indirectly support Russia. Otherwise, China probably wants to pretend to be neutral by sending “dual-use” material.
Although we have seen some photos of Chinese ammunition as well, but not to any great extent. Whether it made its way to Russia directly from China, or came from another country is difficult to know.
Maybe China just keeps going as long as Russia can afford to pay. They have started selling off their gold, but they have large quantities so they will probably manage for a while longer. The problem for them is probably that prices drop if they saturate the market.
One can begin to sense a turning point.
DeppStateMap has even reported some successes now.
The latest: “Ukrainian Defense Forces regain control near Ambarne.”
Extremely good that they no longer care about what anyone says but do what they can to destroy Russia’s oil exports.
If only Europe dared a little more, it could soon be decided.
The least we must do is secure the economic support that Orbán stops, there you have to hope that the election goes as it should. Otherwise, each country must instead come up with the money directly because Ukraine’s economy is probably even more fragile than Russia’s.
Imagine the day the Russians run, we almost get to celebrate with a beer somewhere 😀
Soon five years of our lives we’ve put into this – the best thing I’ve done.
Snow mixed in 😳
Guess it’s tanning bed then.
Yeah, China is lurking in the shadows those scoundrels
Storm and power outages, you’ve had fun I hear 😳
Early January when I was supposed to fly was the worst I’ve experienced – the whole chain collapsed so I hope the storm is over soon so I can come home
I think it has calmed down now, so it’s quiet. Were over 30,000 without power yesterday, haven’t seen anything more but maybe that’s been sorted out too.
Good good 👍
The weather here on the coast is horizontal rain, i.e. perpendicular to the direction of gravity. This is due to strong gusty winds from the west. Good visibility.
Now I’m considering staying here 😳
By the way, as we had guessed, Hungary planned to attack Ukraine when Kiev fell.

A fairly high proportion, almost one unlocalized (probably Ukrainian) attack per two Russian. If the Russians advance in two attacks, the success can likely be neutralized with one Ukrainian. As the General Staff wrote about the Russian attacks in the Kherson region:
“In the Dnipro direction, the enemy carried out three futile assaults toward the Antonivsky Bridge and near Bilohrudy Island.”

Is it true that they were given weapons to the Kurds to help against Iran but they still refused, one can of course understand if Trump gets upset. But one also understands the Kurds who want to avoid being exploited again.
Yes, Trump knows how to build sustainable alliances he…
Yes indeed, Trump betrayed the Kurds early in 2026 in Syria so maybe they were a bit more cautious?

Convinced that it is true. They may not always be as high-tech, and maybe not as homogeneous, but when it comes to being able to exploit it smartly, they are probably completely superior, and it is mainly Russia and Ukraine that now have massive experience in using large quantities of cheap drones both for reconnaissance and as ammunition.
In fact, it would not surprise me if even Russia could be a step ahead of the USA in certain areas.
The weapons industry has thrived on flaunting expensive and complicated systems, then it turns out that quantity is actually crucial, and for that, a completely different connection is probably needed as well, where video feeds and reporting must be able to be done from large numbers of drones, etc.
Exactly and your last – fat cats who have managed to corrupt everything.
UA has built everything from scratch and has lead times a quarter or less compared to us and the cost is in pesetas
It’s a shame that not all Russian soldiers are at this level, then they would hardly have crossed the border in 2022.

I like the café culture in Portugal, it’s on every street corner and mostly coffee.
When they drink, it’s small glasses of beer or 25ml bottles or a splash of port.
In the UK, it’s all about the 60cl pint, otherwise you’ll get thrown out, and in Sweden, we stick to the Systembolaget and go wild in the living room.
All the old folks sit there in the morning, tired, sipping their little finger-sized coffees and thinking there’s too much sun.
A little jealous, would be nice to sit in the sun with a coffee.
I’ll have one more for the team 👍😀
I took the opportunity to tune in to the news channel Al-Jazeera.
Zelensky has not been idle in that conflict.
On March 18, Zelensky announced that 201 anti-drone experts had been stationed in the Middle East.
A few weeks later, several countries in the Middle East had signed agreements to purchase Ukrainian military equipment, primarily to counter Russian/Iranian Shahed drones.
This is a big deal.
Since few countries in the Middle East like the USA.
The only reason the USA has support there is because they dislike Russia even more.
Well, fighting cheap Shahed drones that cost $20,000-40,000 to produce with HIMARS costing around a million dollars each, it is self-evident that it becomes an unsustainable expensive defense.
With Ukrainian anti-drone technology costing $2,000-4,000 to combat a Shahed, it immediately becomes a much better economy in defending oneself.
Soon, Ukrainian technology may take over the air defense in the Middle East.
Then we also have to consider Ukraine’s successes in keeping Russia’s fleet away from the Black Sea.
Of course, that knowledge can be transferred to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open again.
Of course, for the countries around Iran, money is not a problem.
As long as they get weapon systems that can neutralize the threat from Russia and Iran.
So, keep an eye on what Ukraine is doing in the Middle East in the future.
A real page-turner, albeit a far-fetched one, would of course be if Ukraine helps Europe with a lucrative oil deal where oil will be traded in Euros in the future.
All this currently happening in the Middle East could turn into a real big so-called Black Swan in the future.
https://aje.news/5v3yef
Interesting!👍
Patriot missiles is what you mean, not HIMARS?
Jo jag menar Patriot.
Fel av mig.
Jag hoppas jag fick till de rätta kostnaderna.
Rätta mig gärna om jag även har fel där.
Kostnaderna för försvar mot shahed är ju det som är det viktigaste här.
I mean Patriot.
My mistake.
I hope I got the correct costs.
Please correct me if I’m wrong there too.
The costs for defense against shahed are the most important thing here.
I believe that the Patriot robots are actually even more expensive, of course it surely depends a lot on what the agreements look like and how many you buy, etc. Prices seem to vary between 3-4 million USD each, up to almost double for the latest versions.
Now, the Patriot should be able to handle things that the Ukrainian interceptor drones can’t, but using Patriot against Shahed is just madness.
Information about Shahed varies from anything between 10 – 80,000 USD. I guess they have probably come down in price if they have managed to get larger factories up and running. But it doesn’t matter that much when comparing with Patriot.
Maybe one shouldn’t compare the price to what Shahed costs, but rather the price of what Shahed can destroy, but it’s still the case that one never has the means or can produce the amount of Patriot needed in the long run.
Ukraine has really played their cards right when it comes to defense against Shahed.
Hopefully, they can secure really lucrative contracts without sacrificing too much of their own defense at the same time.
By the way, there were rumors that the USA tried to steal their technology and wanted them to show the USA how it worked so they could then sell it on, but Ukraine said no and instead went to the Middle East themselves.
I have worked quite a bit in Dubai.
One thing I noticed was that many of the indigenous people, those who live outside the city of Dubai, were most interested in living in peace.
They often have plenty of money but they live quite modestly.
A few goats and a plot of land to cultivate, and they were satisfied.
I think most people in the Middle East are quite angry about the mess that Russia and the USA have caused there.
Thanks to the interest of the USA and Russia in the North Pole, we are well on our way to ending up in a similar situation here in the Nordic countries and Canada if we are not careful.
The surrounding countries may well want to see a different Iran, but they are probably not very pleased with the war, and most people probably just want to live in peace.
There is absolutely a risk of chaos here as well. Possibly if Trump has perhaps understood that it’s not just a walk in the park. The Americans themselves don’t seem to be particularly thrilled about the war. His approval ratings continue to decline, and that might make him think twice.
Unfortunately, Trump is likely to do the worst possible thing.
By simply bringing the troops home in the near future.
And then blame the Gulf states for not being able to clean up the mess that the USA has now caused there.
Clearly interesting!
I would love to see Europe surpass the USA this time – petro-euro 😍😍😍😍
Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo 🇺🇸 🐘 :
”Ukraine’s offensive has knocked russia off its feet.
Do not give in to Putin now.
Appeasing russia is more dangerous than holding your ground. Volodymyr Zelenskyy once said that Putin uses mafia-style tactics to blackmail the United States.
What will the world say if that works?
After four years of wasted blood and resources, russia is losing this war and experiencing one of its worst failures in decades.
Last Monday, Ukrainian drones struck the port of Primorsk, knocking out 40% of russia’s oil export capacity.
If a deal is made on russia’s terms while it is in a weakened position, it will undermine all U.S. progress and embolden adversaries at a moment when weakness cannot be shown.
Such a deal would mean conceding to a state that provides Iran with weapons and intelligence used to attack American troops.
Russia is already supplying Iran with drones, satellite imagery, intelligence, and targeting data for strikes.
The figure of 1.2 million russian casualties is likely understated. Russia is using its soldiers as expendable cannon fodder. putin is not acting from a position of strength. This fear should be exploited to demonstrate who holds the advantage.
For three consecutive months, Ukraine has been regaining territory and building a reputation as an army that adapts quickly. Its successes have already weakened Putin’s position.
If the regime in Iran falls, russia will lose a key military and economic partner, while the interests of the United States and Israel will be strengthened.
As Ronald Reagan once said, “Appeasement is not the path to peace. It is the path to war.”
Ignoring the lessons of history has consequences.”

Would you like another important event that is currently unfolding?
Take some time to follow Canada’s ongoing procurement of new fighter jets.
Considering the USA’s hostile attitude towards various NATO allies,
the 51st state and the dispute over Greenland, it is no longer a given that Canada will purchase F35 planes.
Gripen 😍😍
Keeping my fingers crossed! It will give the US a fit of jealousy if they were to choose the Gripen.
Jo precis Anders – USA hoped that MENA would now be more loyal to the USA due to security concerns.
Europe has nothing to contribute and we dare not challenge the USA.
Then Ukraine came in and within a day set up a functioning defense.
Completely undermined the USA over there, Saudi Arabia canceled all weapon purchases from the USA.
When the Ukrainian sun rises, Russia is toast.
The quote may also apply to the USA?
Yes, I think it also applies to the USA.
Have you seen the press conference Mark Carney had in Oslo a few weeks ago?
I believe that meeting was more important than his speech in Davos.
As you can see from the participants in the press conference, it was not just a friendly visit to Norway.
Imagine if one could be a fly on the wall when they were talking in private.
Carney is not the type to speak before he has, so to speak, engaged his brain.
What he says today, he means tomorrow and for a long time to come.
https://youtu.be/Kqahpbtoqww?is=YrUbWeHJ3mgm9dUi
Well, I do believe that the USA, as I said, is engaging in self-harming behavior in the long run. Everyone is contemplating how to become independent of them now.
It might end up with the USA, just like Russia, becoming a gas station, as Trump seems to want to grab all the oil. Instead of being ruled by the mafia, as is usually said about Russia, the USA is ruled by the Trump family.
Or maybe most things will return to normal if Trump disappears in the next election, although I’m not entirely sure about that. The uncertainty will persist for many years to come.
I saw news that the number of Americans applying for Canadian citizenship has increased tenfold.
Even when it comes to Europe, the percentage of those who want to move here seems to have increased by 2025, but it seems to vary quite a bit between different countries, so it’s difficult to get any figures for the entire EU.
In Germany, it had increased by 3.4% during Jan-Sept. 2025 to 19,300 people compared to the previous year.
I have a friend who has moved to Sweden after living in the USA for quite some time.
His daughters have also started to settle down in Europe.
Sure thing 😀
The USA has peaked and if they don’t defend the petrodollar, it’s a downward curve.
Now they are trying to maintain their dominance and everything has gone pretty much according to plan except for Ukraine, and now Zelensky is pushing back.
They probably didn’t see that curveball coming at all
and all the bad that comes deserves judgment
Zelensky is in Syria after Turkey.
before that, the whole MENA.
Europe is keeping a low profile except for Macron, but it’s a bit cryptic what he’s doing there?
Try to also keep track of what Mark Carney is up to these days.
It’s important to keep track of which countries they are currently visiting.
Zelensky and Carney are Europe’s and the Nordic countries’ best allies right now.
Both of them are the kind of people who prefer action over talk.
There is probably more going on behind the scenes at the moment than we realize.
Trump must really hate Zelensky 🤣🤣🤣
I guess it can be mutual, but Zelenskyy refrains from making it too obvious.
I don’t know who Trump hates the most right now.
But I guess that Mark Carney is ahead of Zelensky.
Carney is now behaving as we wished the USA would have done.
Carney has a problem looming and it’s the cowboys in Alberta who have had enough of high taxes and contributing to multiculturalism in liberal Toronto and Montreal. There are now enough votes for a referendum on independence from Canada. To be continued.
Good good, let the USA feel how everything is slipping out of their hands
Jo Anderz Canada is high game for us.
in the EU would be perfect
If we include Canada and Ukraine in the EU, we will be tough in the future
no colonization but voluntary.
Anchored democracies but historically tough if needed.
Armenia and Georgia can join too?
UK will probably go smartly.
Then it’s enough.
Hungary and Slovakia will straighten up
Turkey no.
Forgot Iceland they are welcome.
then we have good relations with Africa, fair deals.
This is the future ✊✊✊
Norge?
Yes, they can also join, of course!
They don’t want those oil-rich bastards 😀😀
But yeah, they are welcome if we go back to 1805
Excuse my “know-it-all attitude,” but you are probably referring to the dissolution of the union in 1905 and if Norway joins the EU, Sweden and Norway will once again be united in a union.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Carney has already talked to Starmer about a new EU 2.0.
We already know that there is a certain frustration within the EU regarding Hungary and Slovakia.
The EU has ended up in a situation that England has been warning about for quite some time now.
If you look at what Carney was up to during Brexit, you’ll understand that he is well acquainted with most of the effects of the breakup.
Since he was the chairman of the Bank of England during Brexit.
From the beginning, grenades were released on the soldiers using FPV drones. Then videos started to appear where they simply sacrificed the drone by driving directly at vehicles, tanks, etc. Shortly thereafter, they did the same thing but on individual soldiers.
It felt a bit wasteful to sacrifice the drone on a single soldier even though they are quite cheap. Nowadays, it seems to have become the norm, rarely do you see dropped grenades.
So, one must have achieved a sufficiently high production and also have concluded that it is more effective. It could of course be a combination, a drone dropping grenades has difficulty hitting and causing any major damage to vehicles, and therefore it is better to fly with the suicide variant.
If no vehicles, artillery pieces, or other higher-value targets are found, they go for soldiers. Even if the latter may not be the most effective, it could be that the drones are at their maximum capacity and still cannot return home, or it has simply been concluded that it is cost-effective. If nothing else, it is much safer than sending out infantry.
WARNING!
Video showing how soldiers are hunted, and it is not always cut at the impact so some of the content is graphic. Quite a cruel hunt actually, but then one should remember that the Russians do exactly the same, but also against ordinary civilians who happen to be too close to the front.

A good educational film for many 👍
Yes, the development has been completely crazy.
Said sometime in 2022-2023 that the drone weapon would not become the new black – so wrong, so wrong.
but… we guessed early on these interceptors and that they would come.
What we haven’t seen is small drones with a cartridge fired upon hitting a person, that is, really small drones. Probably flight time and range are limiting. We fantasized about them too.
But many still claim that wonder weapons do not exist. The drone weapon accounts for +80% of RU losses and is completely new.
I would argue that the drone weapon is our time’s blitzkrieg.
It’s hardly possible to see anything other than drones nowadays, so it has definitely become dominant.
We haven’t seen much of those really small ones. Norway donated a variant, but it probably fits best in urban environments and only for surveillance. As you say, the range is probably too short.
Otherwise, I almost thought that a variant using shotgun shells would start to be used. Excellent for taking out other drones and should also work for taking out soldiers without sacrificing the drone. I’ve seen a few individual ones, but only against other drones. But it could be as I suspect, one flies so far now that one doesn’t expect to get the drone back unless it’s about those really big ones.
Zelensky has on several occasions stated that the bottleneck is not how many drones they can produce.
The bottleneck is investment capital to ramp up production.
If they can now get capital from the Middle East, they can surely build a few extra production lines beyond what they need for themselves.
They may even build production capacity in the Middle East.
Dubai would definitely not decline such an offer.
Even if it’s with technology that is six months behind Ukraine’s.
Yes, that’s correct as you write, that he said it. It will be perfect if they can get good contracts with ME as they will also be able to increase the production of the drones for themselves.
MXT is into overpaid military equipment production and fat cats.
Do you remember 1940 and Denmark that held out for two hours?
There they sent back the defense forces that had completely false marketing.
They had a lot of perks just to do a job during war, but they said thanks but no thanks.
💥 Yesterday, drones hit the carrier of the “Kalibr” frigate “Admiral Grigorovich” in Novorossiysk. They also fried the drilling rig “Syvash”

The ceasefire proposal put forward by Pakistan contains far-reaching American demands that are “both extremely ambitious, unusual, and illogical,” according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, as reported by Al Jazeera.
According to sources, the proposal entails a 45-day ceasefire to take effect immediately, but the requirements for it have not been disclosed. Iran has previously stated that it is not considering opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary ceasefire.
The USA has threatened extensive attacks on roads and energy facilities if Iran does not open the strait by Tuesday at the latest.
– Even threatening that undoubtedly constitutes a war crime, says Baghaei, who believes that Iran will not back down.
“The Iranian regime is reacting to Donald Trump using harsh words when he once again threatened with extensive attacks on Sunday.
‘It seems like Trump has become a phenomenon that neither Iran nor the USA can analyze,’ says Minister of Culture Sayed Reza Salihi-Amiri to AP.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Iran ‘crazy shit-kickers’ and demanded that the country open the important Strait of Hormuz. He also suggests that the USA will carry out attacks on energy facilities and Iranian bridges on Tuesday.
This prompted Iran’s speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to roar:

Iran has had 30 years to plan for this war. Surely, they have a few aces up their sleeves. The risk is that the opposition in Iran dislikes Trump and the behavior of the US so much that they sympathize with the ruling mullahs.
🤔🤔
Hm, well, they have had 30 years to prepare, but they seem to have forgotten the air defense, or at least made a wrong investment when they bought Russian.
The ace in the hole could be that they have so many hidden Shaheds that they can saturate the air defense of the USA and Israel and then bring out the larger missiles and cause destruction.
They are religious fanatics, so it might happen that they don’t care about the population and their own and the country’s future as long as they can destroy as much as possible for the infidels.
“Meanwhile, as the war rages in the Middle East, Iran continues to execute demonstrators. In the past two days, three men have been executed. All were arrested during the major protests in January, according to AFP.
On Monday, a man named Ali Fahim was hanged. Iran has accused him of attempting to storm a military facility during the protests and claims that Fahim had connections with Israel and the USA.
International human rights organizations condemn Iran’s executions as illegal, writes TT.”

“The Republicans’ strong support among Black and Latin Americans in Florida may be slipping away from them, writes Reuters.
The sluggish economy, high cost of living, and the White House’s aggressive immigration policy are all factors that have led Florida Democrats to start hoping for change after years of Republican successes.
María Salazar, a Republican member of the House of Representatives from Florida, told the news agency that immigration enforcement actions could cost Republicans both their strong support in Florida and the majority in Congress.
– That is a very big mistake.
Martha Arias, who runs a law firm focusing on immigration issues in Miami, says there are two things she hears from almost every client who visits her after a family member is detained by immigration authorities. “I never thought this would happen to me” and “I regret my vote”.”

Martha Arias clients did get exactly what they voted for, so why are they surprised?
Unfortunately, Patriot is also needed. I wonder if it could be solved with more aircraft with good missiles, but that is not particularly cheap either.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin promises to help Egypt with grain during the country’s economic crisis, which has been exacerbated by the war in Iran, writes The New Arab.
Over 60 million people in Egypt are covered by the state food program, which consists of subsidized bread, and the country imports large quantities of wheat flour every year.
However, critics argue that Russia may be planning to use its aid program as a way to get its products into markets that would otherwise have been closed.
“By using Egypt as a transit point for its wheat and energy products on their way to international markets, Russia can bypass economic sanctions,” says Khaled al-Shafie of the Egyptian think tank Capital Centre for Economic and Strategic Studies.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has reportedly told Reuters that Russia has “many interesting ideas,” but has not confirmed whether they have accepted the offer of aid shipments.
Off-Topic, gasoline prices
“Refueling this summer could cost between 25 and 30 kronor per liter. That’s what Christian Kopfer, commodity analyst at Handelsbanken, believes. In an interview with TT, he says that the Iran conflict will lead to higher prices, regardless of whether peace would break out tomorrow.
– Stocks need to be rebuilt, damages repaired, and production ramped up, he says.
During the spring, the average cost has been around 19 kronor per liter of gasoline and the average price for diesel has been over 23 kronor per liter.
Kopfer warns that consumers should be prepared for the fact that the Swedish economy will suffer greatly if the conflict continues.”

Perfect! It looks like Ukraine will be the one helping to replace the Patriot. That must sting for the USA then. 😄

Iran rejects a proposal for a ceasefire, according to state media cited by Reuters. Instead, the country wants to see a permanent end to the war and has presented a response in ten points. This includes, among other things, eased sanctions, reconstruction, a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and an end to conflicts in the region. The proposal for a ceasefire put forward by the USA reportedly included an immediate ceasefire for 45 days. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously described the proposal as “extremely ambitious, unusual, and illogical.”

Let’s see what happens tomorrow. This is the latest update:
“Donald Trump has extended Iran’s deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz several times after it was first announced over two weeks ago, according to a review by the New York Times. On March 21, Iran was given 48 hours to open the strait, or else face attacks on Iran’s largest power plant. This was changed by the president after what Trump described as constructive talks, which Iran denied. The deadline has been changed in various ways at least six times. A new post on Sunday evening is interpreted by several American media outlets as a seventh time. ‘Tuesday, 8:00 p.m.,’ Trump writes on Truth Social. In an interview with ABC, he makes a new threat. Regarding the possibilities of reaching an agreement, he says: – If it happens, it happens. And if it doesn’t, we will blow up the whole country.”

It may already have started to move. Traffic is up to 10% of the pre-war level, due to multilateral negotiations, but perhaps pressure from the USA has been a boost for these negotiations?
omni:
“Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has increased to the highest levels since the war broke out, after more countries negotiated agreements with Iran, writes Bloomberg.
This weekend, 21 ships passed through the strait, the highest two-day figure since early March. Of the ships, 13 were heading out towards the Arabian Sea.
Iranian ships continue to dominate the traffic, but other ships from Iraq and India have also passed through the strait after Iran’s approval.
However, the levels are still far below pre-war, when around 135 ships per day passed.”
Maybe it can be a concession. But at the same time, they have said that non-hostile countries should be allowed to transport.

Press conference at the White House in Washington with Trump and Hegseth at the microphone. About the SAR operation when the US military rescued the two pilots who had ejected from an F15 over Iran while participating in Epic Fury at such a high speed that despite only two to three seconds separating the pilot and the co-pilot ejecting, they landed several kilometers apart from each other.

Trump explains how they arrived with a larger plane and unloaded three helicopters without the rotors mounted, making them flight-ready in ten minutes. The plane also contained LV systems. They then blew up the plane because the sand they landed on was wet and the plane was too heavy to lift. They entered with about a hundred men and a dozen planes. A significant risk of losing more men. A tough decision for the president. No further casualties or injuries during the SAR operation.
