A large fire broke out at an oil loading terminal in Russian Rostov-on-Don after a Ukrainian drone attack. The terminal handles petroleum products for export, including deliveries from the oil refinery in Novoshakhtinsk. Video clips circulated via several Telegram accounts showed large flames and thick smoke rising from the site. Russian regional authorities confirmed a fire and that air defense was active, but they did not acknowledge any damage to the terminal,
The Ukrainian defense has so far not said anything about being behind the attack. Maybe it was just a careless smoker? Kyiv Independent.
Krasnov (Trump) has now decided to buy diesel from his buddy Putin, reportedly about 300,000 tons. At the same time, he is imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), which among other things has issued a warrant for Putin. Remember.
Those of you who see Trump as a hero, please explain to the rest of us. I would like to hear: He is actually a good person who is incredibly smart and plays a kind of 5D chess that the rest of us don’t understand because we are blinded by our hatred of him but this is actually how it is .. … and it will benefit us all…
The absence of such explanations I will interpret as even you Trump lovers starting to give up. NOTE! This is written humorously.

Trump is becoming harder and harder to defend, I admit that. I feel affected by the introduction. Unfortunately, the Democrats are worse, so I will stay on Trump’s side a little longer, better a known fool than an unknown madman.
Just because one considers the Democrats to be worse doesn’t mean one has to support conman Trump. I have rarely sympathized with the Democrats or felt any great enthusiasm for their politics.
What I miss is that the so-called Reagan Republicans seriously start to take up the fight against the MAGA crazies and their influence.
So Maggan, we should support these instead of passively letting Trump and his bunglers continue to run wild; then maybe finally the backbone will begin to strengthen within the Republicans.
Luckily I don’t get to vote there, so my opinions basically don’t matter. I can somewhat agree with you, fatty, but I think the crazies in D are bigger than those in R.
Exactly, you don’t have to support either of them. Both parties are “victims” of the system from merry old England with first around the post. We in Sweden had a similar system until 1909. That system no longer works and cannibalizes all other options. If you want to get in anywhere as a politician, you have to join one of two options; everything else is, except in rare cases, hopeless. If one of the two parties collapses, it consolidates back into two parties again after a short time.
I agree there. Reagan Republicans are missing.
Trump wants to win the midterm election, his priority is Trump himself, then the USA, then the rest of the world.
What he comes up with after the call, no one knows.
The idea that Trump is controlled from the Kremlin as some claim (no blog mentioned) is contradicted by the fact that the USA has gone after some of Russia’s (open) friends like Cuba, Venezuela, Iran.
It’s about Trump not thinking more than one day at a time and who he dislikes, not what is good for the USA in the long term.
By the way: I saw Rubio’s speech and both he and Vance are right.
Russia is not the only threat to Europe.
Mass immigration there from Western civilization with completely different value systems thrives, as well as Brussels’ regulatory hysteria and attempts at pure thought control, which are almost worse.
I am normally a Republican supporter out of tradition and old habit, but I wish they get thoroughly beaten and lose both chambers in the upcoming election.
Krasnov has hijacked the party and taken complete control. A real crushing defeat might possibly save the party if everyone then sees that the emperor has no clothes.
Unfortunately, the primary system is “rigged” for extremists on both the right and the left. More states should do like Alaska and California, among others, and reform the system.
The curse is slowly starting to lift.
“One in four Republican voters believes that the party’s candidates in the midterm elections should break with President Donald Trump to win seats in the Senate. This is shown by a new survey by Politico and PF Global.
Michigan’s Republican candidate Mike Rogers has already taken action. This week, he demanded an end to Trump’s ‘trade war’ with Canada. A remarkable stance considering that Rogers has repeatedly defended the president’s decision, writes Politico.
Just over half of the voters still think that Republican politicians should support Donald Trump, while 26 percent remain indifferent.”
https://omni.se/a/9kB2Mp
Has he changed his mind (and then turned out to be an economic idiot), or does he just want to be re-elected (and is a dead fish going with the flow), or has he not dared to raise his voice before (and is a coward)?
I can only agree with you, Pehr. You are absolutely right in your analysis!!
I agree with you, Maggan. Trump is a businessman with poor judgment and an almost pathological need to be the center of attention. However, there is a common thread, and that is his aversion to left-liberalism, like Carney in Canada and Burnham in the UK. Yes, the EU under von der Leyen is probably not a favorite either. He probably sees Putin as some sort of corrective whom he supports in his lack of judgment. Can he distinguish between right and wrong and good and evil?
As I said, the Dems have basically disappeared as a party. The committee hearings with Brandon Gill and Josh Hawley have revealed a political extremism among the Dems that is almost incomprehensible. White supremacy is everywhere. Add to that the corruption in Minnesota where tax funds have been funneled to the Somali minority. There is probably a makeover going on within the Dems. But it seems they haven’t found a front figure. Does the party even exist? It can’t just be Trump hatred that is supposed to lift the party.
I usually lean politically a bit center-right, but on the American scale, I might end up somewhere center-left.
It is hard to like either side in the US anymore, since the gap between the two parties has become so large. Both parties have difficulty finding good presidential candidates because they are drawn to the extremes on both sides.
Trump and his followers are, however, extreme in several ways, due to their attempts to create a kind of dictatorship.
It is hard to say anything good about the person Trump; maybe he had some points during his first term, but now he is doing his best to create enemies and enrich himself and possibly some other dictator. If he does not declare a state of emergency and stop the midterm elections, we can hope that we have a clipped-wing Trump for the rest of the time; otherwise, it could be a difficult two years.
Good morning
A nice retort to Krasnov from the Ukrainian side.
As I wrote in yesterday’s thread
Bill Browder posted the following on Twitter
This isn’t a massive amount of oil. It’s 15 hours worth of monthly diesel supply. But this accomplishes three very ugly things:
1) Trump can threaten Ukraine if they bomb any more of Putin’s oil refineries.
2) This can be used as a pretext for why Trump insiders can do dirty business deals with Russia.
3) This can open the door for more sanctions relief for Putin.
https://x.com/billbrowder/status/2108789987114201370?s=46
3 bad things.
However, Ukraine has shown that they manage the sanctions themselves regardless of opinions from third parties. Hopefully, they continue on that path.
The risk, of course, is that Europe starts agreeing that Ukraine is bombing European diesel when they sanction ryz.
Wouldn’t the USA punish all countries that buy Russian energy? With tariffs up to 100%? Maybe Trump made an exception for the USA. The military might need diesel.
By the way, the USA is probably not considered a country in Trump’s world but rather a Dream or a Paradise on earth.
I was once in the USA when they celebrated “Columbus Day.” We got into a conversation with some Americans. One of us asked why the USA celebrates a person who navigated incorrectly? Many had been in America before Columbus, but they had the sense to keep quiet. That joke did not go over well, I can say. We were asked to leave the premises. 🇺🇸
He probably only approved the proposal because it simultaneously gave him more rights to act, not because he intended to sanction Russia.
Exactly. He was given more power to impose arbitrary tariffs, without any requirement to actually impose them on those who fund the Russian war chest.
He signed to be able to sanction countries with leaders he doesn’t like, that is, democracies.
That he is now buying diesel from Russia has several reasons. To lower the pump price in the US a week before the election, to stay on good terms with his friend Putin, and last but not least to be able to pressure Ukraine not to bomb the refinery.
If I am now to say something positive about the US, it seems that the blockade of Iran is working, crude oil is again being shipped through Hormuz, almost as before, while Iranian oil is stopped. However, deliveries of refined products are worse. The availability of ships has also become a problem.
Proxima. Thank you for today’s biggest laugh.
+1 😂👍
Off-Topic, EU and China
“China has agreed to significantly reduce exports of hybrid cars to the EU. This is stated by the EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, according to Bloomberg. – This opens up the possibility to halve China’s exports, says Sefcovic, who this week has held several meetings with China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Vice Premier He Lifeng. On Thursday, the leaders of the EU countries will gather to make a decision on how to handle the fact that the EU imports much more from China than vice versa. The hope from the Chinese side is that the new agreement will lead to the EU’s demand for tariffs and other countermeasures against China being dropped. China’s Ministry of Commerce states that the agreement also includes a “green channel,” which is intended to facilitate export licenses for rare earth metals to the EU.”
Sounds a bit American:
1. Force to stop exporting/impose tariffs.
2. We do not have (a sufficiently large) domestic production.
3. The cars that are imported become more expensive.
4. Our own producers do not need to develop but live in a protected workshop.
5. The competitors run away.
We should reduce dependence on China, but I wonder if this is the right way to go.
But it is good if it is possible to discuss the matter in a sensible way. Instead of throwing out tariffs left and right, and scolding everyone else on truth social, or praising oneself for agreements that the other party hasn’t even heard of.
In this way, there is still the possibility to maintain the production we have, while allowing imports of what we do not have.
Of course, similar agreements should have been written a long time ago, before we became dependent, but better late than never.
We will not be able to compete with China on price, as long as we do not lower our wages to China’s level, or they raise theirs to ours, or we automate away the labor in our factories. If we had chosen to buy European at a higher price instead of cheap throwaway goods, China would not have gained as much power as they have.
And as long as we sell our products abroad, we will probably have to develop our products; it is even the case that we must be especially good at development in order to be able to sell our products at a higher price than the Chinese.
In all honesty, China has acted exactly the same way for decades.
Protective tariffs and requirements for local production including design and technology transfer.
Add to that a currency that, according to several economists, is artificially undervalued.
Wonder if the companies learn anything from this while greedily looking at the Indian market. India has long had similar requirements as China, with joint venture requirements to build cars, etc. When know-how is available locally, they steamroll over their old teachers. I have nothing against that in itself, better to teach someone to fish than to give them fish. But our Western companies have short-sightedness in mind to satisfy their shareholders for the next annual report, somewhat like our politicians.
🎯 The American quarterly economy is completely dominant in the Western world.
It was the golden shoes and the victory perfume that won me over but I’m starting to waver 😐
There is also good news but this is a way for Trump to say “no more raff you bomb OUR oil”.
And for the people in the USA, and Europe, to say – we have no diesel and it’s Ukraine’s fault.
Right thinking, colossally immoral, will not work
The good news is that Zelensky has already said to bomb EVERYTHING now 😀👍👍✊💥
Trump has no power, the emperor is not clothed.
The moderately intelligent might wonder why he stopped buying from Canada and now wants to buy a fraction of Russia but this is 5D chess here.
Smuggling electric cars is probably more lucrative than cigarettes now 😀
Good that the EU is starting to think about this, but Maggan is probably right.
How are we supposed to build our own expensive ones when we don’t have the rare earth metals yet?
In the Dominican Republic, a Toyota Hilux costs maybe 250,000 SEK and in China, a decent electric car 150,000 SEK.
If that sounds cheap to you, it’s because we pay taxes up to the amount you are used to.
Biking will probably be in fashion soon.
But I am a strong advocate for boycotting China 👍
After CCP removed the subsidies, virtually all NEV manufacturers in China are operating at a huge loss in the brutal competition.
Car sales have dropped by over 25% in one year(!).
To survive, they have adopted the British automotive industry’s mantra from the fifties: “Export or die.”
It is not incomprehensible behavior if you zoom out. That he buys diesel from Putin, plans the execution of a terrorist by execution….. these are just media strategies. That is, EVERYTHING that confuses journalists and disorients the people is “good” before the election.
By the way, there are diagnoses to make for people who harm others to benefit themselves……. just saying. Unfortunately, psychopath is not available because a clinically correct diagnosis in that case requires deep information about childhood. But narcissism is available to us hobby psychologists. Within narcissism, there are three main groups if I remember correctly. Grandiose is one, sadistic is another…… I leave any deeper analysis to others.
You’re probably right about that, it probably shifts the focus away from other internal projects, what happened with the Epstein documents for example.
As an amateur-amateur psychologist, I would then call Trump Narcissistic with a grandiose self-image, while Hegseth leans more towards Narcissistic with sadistic traits.
Possibly they both could be psychopaths, neither of them has shown any real empathy, rather they tend to mock the victim and praise the perpetrator. The exception is if the victim is a person who has clearly shown to be on the same side as them, then the false empathy comes out, as in the case of Kirk who was shot live. The false empathy only aims to increase support for themselves.
The USA feels very much like the USA before Pearl Harbor.
Well, there it came.
When Putin speaks, you obey. Old Mar-A-Lago proverb
Raffen stings Putin, which is good.
How quiet it became on my Substack when Yandex was bombed 🧐
Seven years
I am happy and also proud that Europe has broken free.
This is how the USA was since 2022, and Europe as well.
In 2025 we began to change, and today the USA stands there alone.
The USA is, just like the bank, not your friend.
We got the Cold War from them, but now it is over ✊✊✊
Don’t know how much of it is Trump’s credit but he has contributed by being a poorly dressed car salesman
Why are all the AI companies warning about different AI accidents right now?
Are they trying to explain away an upcoming crash?
They are all doing it at the same time
Yes, Epstein was interesting, in a few years it will probably be considered conspiracy theory if you want to discuss it 😀
Soon the USA/Trump will say that an attack on Russian oil is an attack on the USA 😀
Definitely stop selling diesel when we have sold off our reserve stock, wait and see gentlemen
Yep, that thing with the reserves was a bit special, Europe had probably promised earlier to open up the reserves and take out a certain amount, but it hadn’t happened. Now it was probably a larger amount that Trump threatened to get, but if I remember correctly, Europe was a bit slow with the first withdrawals.
Read and consider
https://x.com/brivael/status/2108490759850668380?s=46&t=Vah3JXV31B9lXwZOK5gF7w
I, who do not have X, only saw the French version, but here is a copilot translation. It is probably a worthwhile text even if I may not agree with everything. He probably simplifies some things. The left is not always total ideological conformity and liberalism is not total freedom and everyone living happily as individuals without boundaries and never needing help from the collective.
“The big problem for most people who vote left is not that they are evil. It is that they are not cynical enough.
They believe that humans are basically good and that it is the system that corrupts them. Their entire political project rests on this assumption. And this assumption is wrong.
Humans are, in their essence, oriented towards their own interest. Not necessarily evil. Not necessarily greedy. But primarily turned towards themselves, their family, their tribe. This is the result of millions of years of evolution: those who did not put themselves first are not our ancestors.
You can regret it. But you cannot change it.
And this is where everything tips over. If you refuse to accept this nature, only one alternative remains: to correct it. To re-educate. To weaken self-interest through law, state morality, and collective pressure. To create a new human.
All collectivist systems have tried this. Homo sovieticus. The Cultural Revolution. Year zero under the Khmer Rouge. Every time the same scenario: the real human resists the dreamed human, and then the system accuses the real human. She becomes a saboteur, kulak, enemy of the people. And eventually they eliminate those who refuse to be corrected.
Collectivisms do not end in slaughter by accident. They end in slaughter by design. When your project requires you to change human nature, human nature becomes your enemy.
The right question is therefore not “how do we make humans altruistic?” but: knowing that every individual will first try to maximize their own interest, which system transforms this individual interest into collective prosperity?
Adam Smith formulated it already in 1776: it is not from the butcher’s, brewer’s, or baker’s goodwill that we get our dinner, but from their care for their own interests.
The Austrian school took the reasoning all the way. And the demonstration is done with A + B.
A. Value is subjective (Menger). No one can know for you what is important to you.
B. Knowledge is dispersed (Hayek). It is spread in the heads of millions of individuals. The baker knows how much bread he will sell tomorrow. The farmer knows when his soil is ready. No planner, no matter how brilliant, can centralize this.
C. Price is the only mechanism that can gather this knowledge. A rising price says “there is a shortage, produce more” to millions of people who do not know each other, without any of them needing to be altruistic.
D. Without private property and free prices, economic calculation becomes impossible (Mises, 1920). The planner operates blindly. It is not a problem of ill will or incompetence. It is an information problem. And it is unsolvable.
Conclusion: economic freedom is not an ideology. It is the only architecture that follows human nature instead of fighting it. Each one follows their own interest, and to achieve it they must serve others. It is a symphony without a conductor, where each musician plays their part and the whole sounds right. No system in history has lifted so many people out of misery.
But accepting this system means accepting three things that the left has an extremely hard time swallowing.
One: the exceptional individual exists. Some create more value than thousands of others. An entrepreneur, a researcher, an inventor can change life for millions of people. A society that treats the exceptional as a deviation to be corrected dooms itself to mediocrity. A society that lets the exceptional flourish lifts everyone.
Two: confusing equal opportunities with equal outcomes is the worst of cocktails. Equal opportunities means giving everyone the chance to play. Equal outcomes means manipulating the score at the end. Since individuals differ in talent, effort, and choices, equal opportunities will inevitably produce unequal outcomes. And to enforce equal outcomes requires a force that constantly takes from some to give to others. We are back to the new human. Through another door.
Three: one must accept that some behave badly. In every free system there will be cheaters, freeloaders, fraudsters. It is the price of freedom. The healthy reaction: punish the cheaters and adjust the rules. The unhealthy reaction: punish everyone preventively. Every abuse becomes a new norm, a new form, a new control, which burdens the vast majority who played the game honestly. Layer after layer a bureaucracy is built that suffocates those who create, to protect itself from those who cheat.
That is exactly what Europe has become.
Liberalism is not a doctrine for those who despise humans. It is a doctrine for those who accept them as they are. The left loves humans as they should be. The liberal works with humans as they are.
And history has already decided.”
Trump’s deal to buy Russian diesel shows that Putin may be coming back into the fold. That is what military expert Johan Huovinen says. Trump is also said to have put forward a proposal for de-escalation in the Ukraine war – which was followed by a new deadly Russian attack.

The announcement came at the same time as a Ukrainian delegation met with the American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Florida.
“I have just concluded a very successful conversation with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, where we agreed that Russia will immediately deliver over 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global market,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He further wrote that Russia will deliver 500,000 tons of diesel in November and then another million tons.
Points out two reasons
The response from Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy came quickly:
“I assess that our delegation is only being used as a smokescreen. And that is really not fair,” he wrote in a statement through the Ukrainian embassy in the USA.
Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is also critical of the deal.
“We regret the US agreement with Russia on diesel deliveries, as energy revenues are central to the Russian war chest,” he writes on X.
Trump is doing this now for two reasons, believes military expert Johan Huovinen from the Swedish Defence University.
– One is to keep fuel prices down, which ultimately stresses the American economy. Since the attempt at the Strait of Hormuz failed, this becomes a way to get more fuel out on the international markets.
The goal is to lower interest rates and inflation in the USA, says Huovinen.
He describes the move as “a punch in the stomach for the EU,” which is in the process of phasing out Russian oil and gas.
Proposal for de-escalation
The second reason the USA wants to buy Russian diesel now is to invite Russia back onto the world market.
– This becomes a way to signal to Russia that if you behave and stop the war in Ukraine, you can come back. This is the first signal of a normalization of the Russian-American relationship.
– For Putin, this is good. It is probably the best he has heard in a year, says Huovinen.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov states that Trump also put forward a proposal for de-escalation in the Ukraine war during the conversation with Putin. The proposal is said to have been received favorably by Putin.
But Huovinen does not believe that the agreement between the USA and Russia will lead to any peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
– I find it hard to see that. So far there are no indications that they are ready to sit at the negotiating table. It would then have to be American pressure that could make it happen.
Early Saturday morning, at least twelve people were killed in a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. On X, Volodymyr Zelenskyy writes that Russia “expressed its gratitude for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia.”

On January 1 next year, the municipality of Queropalca in central Peru will get a new mayor: Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores from the Left Party.
On November 4th, we should know if the Republicans lose both chambers. If that happens, early next year we will see a severely weakened administration and an external world that to an increasingly greater extent will respectfully ignore entirely what it wants, as they know that Congress will block, change, or overturn it.
It is time for the EU to step up, stand in front of the orchestra pit, take a firm grip on the baton, shoulder its responsibility, and use its full potential TO THE FULLEST.
Can only agree.
“US President Donald Trump launches a harsh attack against Volodymyr Zelensky and urged him to stop attacking Russian oil refineries, according to Reuters. – He would do best to stop, he says and continues: – I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal. On Friday, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Russia and Vladimir Putin on deliveries of diesel to the world market.”

Now it is Europe, Canada, and Australia that it depends on. To fully support Ukraine. We have chosen not to support the USA in Iran. Let this be the starting point in relation to our position in the USA-Ukraine relationship. Let Trump try to form a coalition with Russia, whose GDP is a fraction of Europe’s combined, and see (fafo) what his countrymen think about the change of trade partner. In connection with a total boycott, Europe can take the opportunity to redeem government treasury bills. Economic resources and means of pressure are not lacking. But is there, or is there a lack of backbone? It is now time to prove it!
Krasnov does not deny himself 🤮
I sometimes wonder how world history would have looked if the shooter had aimed a little more to the right…… But really, we should probably just be grateful for these increasingly desperate and counterproductive outbursts from this worst of all presidents, as this is unlikely to help the reps in the upcoming election…. something of a swan song….
Not only Trump: both Erik XIV and Johan III (I?) have behaved:
“A period of insanity began with the Sture murders in 1567, and although Erik XIV later recovered, this contributed to him being deposed the following year and succeeded by his brother Johan III. The latter initially kept him imprisoned but probably eventually ordered that he be killed by poisoning.”

We might be closer to collapse than we think 🧐
Soon Trump will probably ask Ukraine to stop advancing?
Guaranteed when Putin asks for a ceasefire it will be no mistake that they win the war, wait and see 😀
