  1. Has Johan woken up with a horse’s head in his bed? Did the Italian boss catch him with a yellow wall? Or did the Old Man show up after crossing the Atlantic and drunk Johan under the table?

  2. Haha, something like that 😳

A lot with the contract but also working on a HUGE post.

There will be a shorter one on Friday and another almost finished.

205 – date for offensive start, around May 8-12?

    1. “Syrskyi did not provide absolute figures but noted that the number of Ukrainian offensive actions exceeded those of Russian forces as of May 14, which may indicate Ukraine contesting the initiative at the tactical level and engaging in more active counterattacks.”

Compare the picture in the answer above: on May 13, the AFU reported for the first time a ratio exceeding 1.0, meaning more unlocated battles than located ones. Then the ratio fell below 1 for a few days before exceeding it again on May 16.

  3. Hidden purpose of the nuclear weapons exercise – to get tactical nuclear weapons into Belarus.

The defensive anchor no one will attack.

UA is probably preparing for something up north as well.

  4. For Trump, it is probably worth it, he and his family walk away many billions of dollars richer – it also means that they can bribe their way out of problems in the future.

  5. I believe greater freedom for the union leaders is behind much of the positive things we see.

They are still upset with Sirsky but he is not interfering at the micro level.

    1. Getting the corps staffs operational might have triggered complaints from brigade commanders who were used to being the top dogs. But it is certainly necessary if Ukraine is to achieve more than local successes.

  7. Off Topic: Why the UAE left OPEC

The reason the UAE left OPEC was that they found more oil. But that oil lies beneath the desert and requires different technology to extract. That technology is held by the USA (fracking). Normally, when a technology is needed, one invests in a company that has the technology and lets the company extract, in this case, oil. The problem was that the USA sees this technology as a national security interest, which blocks foreign investments without approval from American authorities.

So the UAE went to Mar-A-Lago to talk with Trump. Trump then wondered why he should support them when they belonged to OPEC? So the UAE had to leave OPEC to gain access to the technology, and instead, the USA, Canada, and the UAE will create a new cooperative organization (shale oil alliance something).

The find is estimated at about 250 billion barrels of oil; today, the UAE has a quota at OPEC of 3.5 million barrels per day. If they were to double production and extract 3.5 million barrels per day also from the shale oil, that deposit would last nearly 200 years. The deposit is located near the border with Saudi Arabia, which means they also have undiscovered deposits as a low-probability chance.

One barrel of oil can be translated to about 400kg of CO2 (if Google’s AI is not lying) after the oil has been refined and used.

    1. Exciting 🧐
Where did you find this information?
I asked CoPilot (i.e. Chat GPT) to check, but it couldn’t find any information.
“Most of this story is a combination of real events and pure speculation. It is true that the UAE is leaving OPEC in 2026, but the main reason given in several sources is that they want to avoid production quotas and be able to utilize their increased capacity – not a new gigantic oil discovery or access to fracking technology.
There is also no credible evidence that a “Mar-a-Lago deal” with Trump was behind the decision, or that the UAE needed to leave OPEC to gain access to American technology. Cooperation with American companies around shale oil is already happening today without such requirements.
The claim of a discovery of 250 billion barrels lacks support in established data – the UAE’s proven reserves are rather around 100–110 billion barrels.
Conclusion: The story mixes real trends (the UAE wants to produce more and cooperates with the USA) with unconfirmed or incorrect claims about the reasons and extent.”

▪️Belarus and Russia are not threatening anyone, but they stand ready to defend their shared fatherland from Brest to Vladivostok.

▪️Belarus will be drawn into the war in only one scenario – if aggression is committed against its territory. The country has no intention of getting involved in the war in Ukraine, as there is no need for it, either civil or military.

▪️Lukashenko is ready to meet with Zelenskyy “at any location – in Ukraine or Belarus” to “discuss the issues in Belarusian-Ukrainian relations.”

      1. Even SVD highlighted this good news.

Around a hundred people have been injured or killed in a Ukrainian special operation against an FSB headquarters, according to Ukraine’s president. “Some Russian senior general or equivalent will be held accountable,” says Major Roger Djupsjö.

        Published: May 21, 2026 15:36
Ukraine’s security service SBU is said to have struck a headquarters of the Russian security and intelligence service FSB in the Kherson region on occupied Ukrainian territory. This is stated by Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky in a post on X.
In the operation, a Pantsir-S1 air defense system is also said to have been destroyed, writes the president.
In a video shared by the president on social media, it appears that a facility in Kherson, near the Crimean Peninsula, is hit by Ukrainian projectiles.

Around 100 soldiers are reported to have been killed or injured, according to Zelensky. He also writes that the special operation had “good results.”

“The Russians must feel that they need to end their war,” writes Zelensky.
        Big win – if true
It is still unknown whether the attack was something planned over a longer period – or if Ukraine received immediate intelligence and acted promptly. Assuming the Ukrainian information is correct, it is a big win for Ukraine, according to military analyst Jörgen Elfving.
        – They are throwing sand in the Russian machinery, suddenly a number of FSB employees are eliminated with all that entails, he says, emphasizing the symbolic value:
        – It shows that Ukraine has the ability to identify high-value targets, has the ability to attack, and when they do so, they do it successfully.

But Jörgen Elfving is also careful to point out that it is too early to say whether the information from Ukraine’s president is accurate.
        – All information about losses and successes coming from the parties must be taken with a grain of salt; one must be aware that these are partisan statements. So it remains to be seen what independent sources say about this. But this would not be the first time Ukraine attacks this type of target.
Major Roger Djupsjö, instructor at the Swedish Defence University, believes this would represent a setback for Russia’s capabilities on the battlefield.
        – Much about this operation is still unknown, but in the Russian command structure, the commanders have quite a lot of information. If this is true, I am completely convinced that there will be a leadership vacuum for a while, he says.
It will likely also have consequences for the military leadership.
        – Some Russian senior general or equivalent will be held accountable for this having happened, says Roger Djupsjö.
        Cost 20 million dollars
Fredrik Wesslau, researcher at the Centre for Eastern European Studies, says this is just the latest in a series of examples of how Ukraine has systematically knocked out Russian air defenses.
        – They have knocked out more than Russia can produce, so it has created openings for Ukraine to strike valuable military targets, such as the FSB headquarters in Kherson, he says.
The air defense system, Pantsir-S1, which Ukraine is said to have knocked out in the same attack, is worth 20 million dollars – while the attack was probably carried out with much cheaper drones, says Wesslau.

        – Russia is engaged in a war of attrition; in the end, they have more resources. So Ukraine uses these cheap systems, like drones, to asymmetrically strike back.
And that is something that has made the Russian president nervous, Wesslau believes. The prestigious Russian parade on Victory Day, May 9, this year contained no weapons.
        – They fear that Ukraine could actually successfully attack Moscow, he says.
Russia had not commented by Thursday afternoon on Zelensky’s information about the Ukrainian attack in Kherson.
The event will likely be downplayed from Moscow’s side, says Fredrik Wesslau.
        – They usually sweep losses under the rug and pretend nothing has happened. It is very embarrassing for Russia that Ukraine succeeds with this.

  10. They continue selling off their gold.

Then there is once again one of those charts that makes it look much more dramatic than it is.

Russia’s Central Bank is selling off its gold reserves at a 25-year record pace, – Bloomberg Since the beginning of the year, the Central Bank of Russia has sold nearly 28 tons of gold for approximately $4.3 billion. This is the largest reduction in the country’s gold reserves since 2002. By May 1, Russian reserves had fallen to 2,298 tons—the lowest level since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Bloomberg notes that the Central Bank began reducing its gold reserves last year to help cover the budget deficit amid falling oil and gas revenues and support the ruble. Russia used to be one of the world’s largest gold buyers, buying up almost all domestic production.”

The oil war affects the Russians’ wallets

Ukraine is not only targeting Russian oil exports as missiles and drones are guided ever closer to Moscow. During May, large parts of the country’s gasoline and diesel production for domestic use have been knocked out, sources told Reuters.

    Published: May 21, 2026 15:30
At the beginning of May, the large oil refinery Kirishi outside St. Petersburg was hit in a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. The attack was noted on Russian social media because it targeted a location so close to Vladimir Putin’s own hometown.
But these days, the effects of the Ukrainian missile and drone attacks have become noticeable in a completely different way. After more than a year of attacks aimed at fuel facilities, all refineries in central Russia are either idle or have been forced to reduce production, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

The Kirishi facility is Russia’s largest and most modern refinery. The gasoline and diesel produced there go both to the army and to ordinary consumers on the domestic market. According to Reuters sources, Russia’s total production of motor fuels has decreased by 25-30 percent in just a few weeks.
    – Such a large loss may affect both gasoline and diesel prices, says Christian Kopfer, a commodity expert at the Norwegian investment bank Arctic Securities.
    Refineries seen as military targets
The production decline in regular fuels, which Reuters has reported on, is not only due to the attack on Kirishi, according to Kyiv Independent. The refineries in Ryazan, Yaroslavl, and Nizhny Novgorod have also been subjected to missile and drone attacks.

They are all scattered around the Moscow region, and just a few days ago a refinery in the capital was also attacked. This made the war very tangible for many Russians, according to military expert Johan Huovinen. Among other things, because the fires from the impact sites are visible from afar and cannot be hidden:
    – Ukraine has had several successes in reaching Russian ports and refineries before. But in recent months, these have been quite substantial attacks, Johan Huovinen told SvD on Monday.
The wave of refinery attacks can also be expected to hit ordinary Russians’ wallets. This is mainly because it is not only oil or raw material facilities that have been knocked out, but also the production of finished fuels.
    Gasoline price sensitive
Around 85 percent of all gasoline and 65 percent of all diesel produced in Russia is intended for the domestic market, according to official Russian figures. And the issue of fuel prices is as sensitive there as it is in Sweden. Just over a year into the war against Ukraine, the Russian state stopped all gasoline exports, precisely so that consumer prices in the country itself would not be affected.
The regular attacks also affect the already heavily strained oil exports out of Russia, even at facilities that have not been attacked. This is because oil transports within Russia have become more difficult, a port worker told SvD after the attacks on Baltic Sea ports earlier this spring.
    – Air raid alarms go off every day and every time it happens, the oil trains have to be driven into secure depots. It takes a lot of time even when no attack actually comes, says the person who speaks on condition of anonymity.
About one million barrels of oil are estimated to have disappeared from the world market as a result of Russia’s reduced oil exports.
    – That’s about just under one percent of the world’s oil production that has disappeared. But here the Strait of Hormuz is still a bigger factor for world market prices, says Christian Kopfer.

    1. Posts for Monday and Tuesday will come later, I hope to manage to check if there is anything in the pipeline because I will post them during your night.

I will sneak in the post about the Green Party under a different name so you don’t accidentally double post just to annoy.

  12. The Moderates want to start a drone defense force to protect hospitals and other important facilities against hostile drones, reports Ekot.
According to the Moderates, about 10,000 people would be part of the drone defense force. They would be trained in drone protection and in disrupting or shooting down drones.
The idea is that already employed staff at, for example, hospitals would be trained to protect their workplaces.
Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister for Civil Defense (M), compares the drone defense force to the civil defense during the Cold War.
He says it involves, among other things, protection training, passive protective measures such as nets, decoys, and camouflage, and electronic capabilities to combat drones.
    – A palette, really, of measures that must be put in place.

    1. When the obvious is interceptor drones?

The Moderates should read here in the threads.

Have a post on the roofs of all buildings with a combined interceptor drone package 24hr staffing on a rotating schedule.

They are coming now – catching each other with nets, arguing about who should be this week’s decoy target and failing to build an entire hospital into a credible decoy target building.

The electronic capability is constantly changing so no idea there either.

      Damn 😐

      1. It is probably a good idea to build operational defenses again, what tools they will then have depends on the technological development.

I recommend grbrgr and M37/39 in the cabinet, just in case. Needed if nothing else against stubborn computers and coffee machines ✊🏻.

  13. You will like tomorrow’s post 😀

Not revealing anything but I may have come up with a future movie quote and will become rich from royalties.

    1. We like all your posts. But tomorrow is Friday and Rubio is coming to Helsingborg. Guys and girls here in the thread! Now we have to show what we think about Kiba

  14. Deepstate is behind with its gray zone.

On May 19, they write that UA has cleared Stepnohirsk but still shows a large gray zone north of the town.

There are supposed to be some unfortunate VDV left up north.

Everyone interprets the gray zone as being RU-controlled since they have been on the offensive.

Now we have to completely reverse that and the gray zone belongs to UA.

  15. Now that we are soon falling into a financial crisis and Europe is entangling itself with the Baltics, we can endure it when Ukraine delivers the final blow.
